Peace in Progress!’ – Fubara Credits Tinubu’s Timely Intervention in Rivers Tension”
Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has called on his supporters, Rivers residents, and Nigerians at large to express gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his timely intervention in preventing what could have escalated into full-blown anarchy amid the state’s ongoing political crisis.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Fubara made this appeal on Thursday during a meeting with leaders and stakeholders of the Simplified Movement in Port Harcourt, as part of events marking his second anniversary in office.
He affirmed his commitment to returning to Government House, revealing that steps were already being taken to restore the full functions of both the Executive and Legislative arms of government.
Fubara expressed optimism that democracy and good governance would soon be restored, with all institutions collaborating for the greater good of Rivers people. He lamented that the political turmoil had overshadowed his administration’s achievements in the past year, which would otherwise have been celebrated. Nevertheless, he assured citizens that his government would bounce back stronger and more united, committed to delivering the dividends of democracy.
He stated:
“I assure you that the issues will soon be resolved, and you will return to your offices, not just in the Executive but also the Legislative arm. I believe our previous cordial relationships will be rekindled so we can work together again for the development of the state. The key is having a spirit of forgiveness.”
Fubara praised President Tinubu’s role, saying:
“We are already on the path to peace. Please extend your gratitude to Mr President for his timely and wise intervention that helped stabilize the state. Without him, today’s reality might have been much worse.
I don’t know how he receives his intelligence, but he acted wisely and at the right time. I personally thank him, as well as the notable individuals across the country who urged him to step in.”
He urged everyone to set aside personal pride and fully embrace the peace process, stressing that the progress of Rivers State must come before individual interests.
