Presidency Reveals Why Tinubu Fired NNPC Boss Kyari
The Presidency has clarified the reasons behind President Bola Tinubu’s decision to sack Mele Kyari as the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited and dissolve its board.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to Daniel Bwala, the Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, the decision was driven by a need for fresh perspectives and leadership within NNPC. Bwala, speaking via his account on Wednesday, explained that reports of a crisis of confidence within the company and the broader oil and gas sector prompted the leadership change.
Bwala emphasized that the restructuring of NNPC’s board is both timely and strategic. He highlighted that addressing the company’s challenges required a new mindset, citing a famous quote by Albert Einstein: “To solve a problem, you need to approach it with a different mindset and perspective than the one that led to its creation.”
President Tinubu’s move to appoint Bayo Ojulari, an experienced oil and gas professional, as the new GCEO reflects his commitment to enhancing the NNPC’s operational efficiency and commercial viability. The changes, effective April 2, 2025, are part of a broader strategy to restore investor confidence in the sector.
Furthermore, Ahmadu Musa Kida has been appointed as the new non-executive chairman, replacing Pius Akinyelure. In addition, six non-executive directors representing Nigeria’s geopolitical zones have been appointed to the NNPC board.
This leadership overhaul follows Tinubu’s decision to exercise his powers under Section 59(2) of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021, aimed at making NNPC more commercially viable and efficient. The Presidency affirms that the changes are crucial for the nation’s oil and gas industry to regain stability and progress.

Mohammad Mokhber disclosed this on Wednesday during an interview on State TV, emphasizing that Tehran does not trust Washington and sees no grounds for dialogue.

“We will not enter into any negotiations with the US. The Americans cannot be trusted. We can sustain the war for as long as we choose,” he said.
He added that previous interactions with the United States have left Iran doubtful about any diplomatic efforts.

Khamenei, who was 86 at the time of his death, is expected to be laid to rest in his hometown of Mashhad in northeastern Iran.

“We allowed Nigeria to dominate and push us back into our half. The goals came in quick succession,” he said after the game.
Nigeria, under head coach Justine Madugu, displayed improved intensity and sharper movement in the second half, applying sustained pressure that forced defensive lapses from the hosts.
Babajide played a key role in the turnaround, scoring once and providing an assist in an impressive performance that underscored her growing importance to the team.
“Great reaction from the team today,” the AS Roma Women forward wrote on .
The Super Falcons will now shift their attention to preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
