In a shocking incident, the Kogi State Police Command has arrested four individuals connected to the alleged murder of a 17-year-old female student from the Federal University, Lokoja (FUL). The victim, a first-year biology student, was reportedly kidnapped and subsequently killed.

Details of the Crime

According to police spokesman SP Williams Ovye-Aya, the primary suspect in the case, identified as 21-year-old Jeremiah Paul-Awe, allegedly conspired with three accomplices to carry out the crime. The investigation began when Stephen Oluwoyo reported that his daughter was missing. He received a distressing message from an unknown number claiming that she had been abducted and demanding ransom for her safe return.

Responding to the complaint, operatives from the Nigeria Police Force’s State Intelligence Department (SID) acted quickly, leveraging actionable intelligence with support from the Technical Intelligence Unit (TIU) at the Force Headquarters. On September 11, police tracked down and arrested Paul-Awe in connection with the kidnapping and murder.

Discovery of the Victim’s Body

Following Paul-Awe’s arrest, he led police to the scene where the victim’s body was discovered. As the investigation continued, authorities apprehended three additional suspects linked to the crime.
