According to Igbinomwanhia, one soldier lost his life, and another sustained injuries during the attack by the suspected herders. In response to the aggression, the troops retaliated, resulting in the death of three assailants and injuries to several others. Additionally, the security forces seized one AK-47 rifle along with rounds of ammunition from the attackers.
The OPWS is presently engaged in a clearance operation aimed at expelling suspected armed foreign herders who have encroached upon the Kwande Local Government Area of the state.
This distressing incident comes on the heels of a similar attack in February, where suspected herders ambushed troops in Agatu local government, resulting in the death of one soldier and injuries to two others.

During the proceedings, two of the defendants—Abdulrazak Umar and Shamsudin Adamu—further confessed to utilizing a WhatsApp group named “The Oneness of Allah is the Foundation of Peace” to train and incite members toward acts of terrorism. Furthermore, Abdulrazak Umar pleaded guilty to a separate charge of conducting unauthorized illegal gold mining activities along streams in the Chaza area located within Niger State’s Suleja Local Government Area.
