A statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris, acknowledged the pivotal role played by the Muhammad Danbaba Centre. Their efforts contributed to Zamfara’s emergence as the top-performing Northern state in the National Examination Council (NECO) entrance exams for gifted students, with many of the top achievers hailing from public schools.

Lawal took the opportunity to commend the students and their families for their dedication and hard work. “Your remarkable performance is a positive indication that our administration’s declaration of an emergency in the education sector was not in vain,” the governor stated.

Zamfara had previously struggled with educational performance, often ranking at the bottom in national assessments. To address this, Lawal declared a state of emergency in education last year and introduced sweeping reforms. “We are renovating more than 300 fully equipped schools across all 14 Local Government Areas,” he said. “Additionally, we have implemented teacher training programs to raise the quality of education in public schools.”
