A significant achievement has been made by a Nigerian Air Force officer, David Sangokoya, who has been honored with the International Sword of Honour for 2023 at the Royal Air Force College Cranwell in the United Kingdom. This prestigious recognition highlights his outstanding performance during the Modularised Initial Officers’ Training (MIOT) Course 22, where he excelled as the Best International Cadet.

The announcement was made via a statement posted on the Nigerian Air Force’s Facebook page. The statement, titled “NAF Officer Awarded 2023 International Sword of Honour At RAF College Cranwell UK,” detailed Sangokoya’s accomplishments during his training from March to September 2023. The Royal Air Force College Cranwell conducts up to eight courses each year, and the International Sword of Honour is awarded to the most distinguished international cadet.

The award ceremony took place on September 12, 2024, and was presided over by Prince William, the Prince of Wales, who presented the honor on behalf of King Charles III. This recognition not only celebrates Sangokoya’s hard work but also emphasizes the high standards of training and excellence upheld by the Nigerian Air Force.

In a show of pride and support, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, the Chief of the Air Staff, congratulated Sangokoya on this remarkable achievement. In his message, he praised the officer’s dedication and commitment throughout his training, stating, “This prestigious recognition is a testament to the officer’s focus, dedication, and hard work.” He also acknowledged the vital support from Sangokoya’s family, which played a crucial role in his success.
