Real Warri Pikin’s Journey from Darkness to Comedy....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Nigerian comedienne Anita Asuoha, widely known as Real Warri Pikin, recently shared a poignant story about her struggles with depression and suicidal thoughts due to overwhelming debt. In a heartfelt post on Instagram, she revealed how a financial crisis spiraled her life out of control, culminating in an attempted suicide in June 2018.

Facing a staggering debt of N22 million, Asuoha recounted how a motivational speaker inspired her husband to explore various business ventures. Unfortunately, these attempts at financial success only plunged the family deeper into debt. The pressure became unbearable, leading Asuoha to contemplate ending her life.

“I tried suicide so you don’t have to,” she expressed in a video clip shared on her Instagram. “Life just dey hit me left right and center… I felt like the only way to escape was to end the pain.” Her dark moment came on June 6, 2018, at precisely 3 PM, when she decided to take a drastic step. Thankfully, a family member’s timely intervention saved her from that fateful decision.

Asuoha’s story is particularly resonant as it coincides with World Suicide Prevention Day. She emphasized the importance of recognizing that life is full of seasons and phases. “Suicide is making a permanent decision to a temporary problem,” she cautioned, urging her followers to seek help instead of resorting to despair.

Through her journey, Asuoha has turned her pain into purpose, using comedy as a platform for healing. Reflecting on her experience, she noted that depression ultimately led her to discover her comedic talent. “In school, I used to dance professionally, host events, and do stand-up comedy, but I didn’t take it seriously,” she recalled. “Last year, I fell into depression. I just said to myself, ‘Why not start making videos to motivate and inspire people in a funny way?’ And here I am today.”
