Labour Party in Crisis: Calls for Investigation Into Peter Obi, Aisha Yesufu, and Afenifere Leaders Over Alleged Fund Mismanagement....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Labour Party (LP), led by Julius Abure, has called for a thorough investigation into key figures, including Aisha Yesufu, Pastor Itua Ighodalo, the 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi, and prominent Afenifere leaders. The LP is requesting the National Security Adviser (NSA) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to probe allegations of fund misappropriation related to the 2023 presidential campaign.

Accusations of Financial Misconduct

During a press conference held in Abeokuta, Ogun State, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Arabambi, outlined the claims, stating that the accused individuals allegedly diverted over ₦12 billion and $15 million in donations meant for the Labour Party’s presidential campaign.

Arabambi expressed dissatisfaction with recent comments made by activist Aisha Yesufu, who denied any involvement in the alleged diversion of campaign funds. He labeled Yesufu’s defense as an attempt to cover up financial misconduct and criticized her for what he termed as disrespect to the party’s leadership.

Allegations Against Peter Obi and Afenifere Leaders

Arabambi also accused Peter Obi of orchestrating the alleged fraudulent activities, calling him a “political merchant.” He implicated Afenifere leaders—Pa Ayo Adebanjo, Akin Osuntokun, and Sola Ebiseni—claiming they retained over ₦600 million in private accounts associated with Afenifere. According to Arabambi, these individuals conspired with Yesufu and others to embezzle funds intended for the party’s presidential campaign.

“The trio of Pa Ayo Adebanjo, Akin Osuntokun, and Sola Ebiseni were involved in financial infractions totaling over ₦600 million, which they have kept in private accounts and Afenifere accounts,” Arabambi asserted. He further alleged that Peter Obi orchestrated this conspiracy, using Yesufu and Ighodalo as agents in the diversion of funds.

Call for Accountability and Transparency

Arabambi emphasized that the Labour Party remains committed to transparency and accountability, urging authorities to investigate all bank accounts tied to the alleged fraud. He stressed the importance of a full audit into the financial dealings of the accused individuals to determine the extent of their involvement.

“We call on the NSA and the EFCC to examine the accounts of Pa Adebanjo, Akin Osuntokun, Sola Ebiseni, and all others implicated in this scandal. The Labour Party stands for justice and will not tolerate any form of corruption,” Arabambi stated.

Denials and Counterclaims

In response to these allegations, Dr. Yunisa Tanko, the National Coordinator of the Obedient Movement, dismissed the claims as false and unfounded. Tanko maintained that there was no evidence of financial misconduct and assured that all funds related to the Labour Party’s presidential campaign were accounted for.

“I was present when Aisha Yesufu provided the audited accounts of the campaign funds, and no money is missing,” Dr. Tanko confirmed during a phone conversation.

Similarly, Afenifere’s Deputy Leader, Oba Oladipo Olaitan, expressed unfamiliarity with the accusations but noted that the group would respond if necessary. “I have just seen the lengthy press statement you are referring to. I have not read it, but if Afenifere needs to respond later, we will certainly do so,” Olaitan stated.

He noted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) was pleased with the lawmaker’s activities within the ADC, adding that his presence was creating internal tensions in the opposition party.

The Chief of Staff also urged Abejide to disregard calls from APC members, including former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, who had reportedly encouraged him to defect to the ruling party.

“Don’t come to APC. Stay in ADC and scatter them. We like what you’re doing. Don’t mind former governor Yahaya Bello, who said you should join APC. No, no, no, stay in ADC and win your election. Also, bring Bala Gombe, and we’ll support him. Good luck in court,” he was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, fresh tension has emerged within the African Democratic Congress as factional leader Nafiu Bala accused former national chairman Ralph Nwosu of misrepresenting the purpose of a recent party event.

Bala, speaking in an interview on AIT on Monday, said he was invited to what he believed was a routine meeting to welcome new members but later discovered it was used to announce a new leadership structure led by David Mark.

Shocking Exchange: Presidency Blasts Peter Obi Over Alleged Party Control Battle.

The Presidency has criticised former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, questioning his leadership ability and accusing him of failing to manage internal crises within the Labour Party (LP).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to reports, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, made the remarks during an interview on African Independent Television (AIT) on Monday.

Dare argued that Obi did not found the Labour Party and does not have full control over its structure, adding that his handling of party disputes raises concerns about his leadership capacity.

He further alleged that Obi has shown a pattern of moving between political platforms rather than resolving internal challenges, insisting that he “cannot fix” his own party.

Dare said the Labour Party’s internal crisis had been visible for years and questioned Obi’s level of involvement in resolving it, suggesting that he instead left the party amid the turmoil.

He stated that such leadership qualities should be scrutinised given national responsibilities, adding, “You cannot fix your party.”

The presidential aide also addressed claims linking the Presidency to the crisis within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), rejecting any involvement and insisting the party’s internal issues were not influenced by the federal government.

He maintained that the ADC situation is already before the courts and should be resolved through judicial processes rather than public agitation or political pressure.

Dare urged all parties involved to respect ongoing legal proceedings, stressing that court decisions would ultimately determine the outcome of the disputes.

He added that the government remains committed to respecting the judiciary and warned against attempts to influence public opinion while cases are still being decided.
