Southern Region: Rain Showers and Cloudy Skies
In the southern parts of Nigeria, NiMet predicts thunderstorms in the morning over Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, Ogun, Ondo, Lagos, Edo, Delta, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom States. Public Advisory: Prepare for Possible Flooding and Strong Winds
NiMet has issued warnings for residents in flood-prone areas, urging them to stay alert as the likelihood of urban flooding is high in major cities due to the anticipated heavy downpours. Strong winds are also expected to precede thunderstorms, particularly in northern regions. NiMet advises the public to adhere to safety advisories and stay updated on weather conditions through official channels.
For airline operators, NiMet emphasizes the importance of obtaining airport-specific weather reports to ensure effective flight planning. The agency recommends that the public regularly check their website, www.nimet.gov.ng, for timely weather updates.

Babachir Lawal Dumps ADC, Declares Total War On Atiku’s 2027 Ambition.
Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, has alleged that specific Fulani factions are rejoicing over Atiku Abubakar’s presidential candidacy, viewing it as a path to securing the Nigerian presidency for their ethnic group. Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today following his departure from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Lawal leveled several criticisms against the former vice president.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Lawal defended his use of the term “Kachalla”—a title he associated with local leaders of bandit groups like that of Bello Turji—to describe Abubakar, explicitly questioning the former vice president’s Fulani identity and allegiances.
A central pillar of Lawal’s critique is that Abubakar has remained silent regarding rampant insecurity in Nigeria, particularly in the North and his home state of Adamawa. Lawal contended that the presidential hopeful has failed to publicly denounce kidnappings and mass killings, nor has he visited affected communities to offer condolences.
Furthermore, Lawal pointed to the 2022 murder of Deborah Samuel in Sokoto as a point of contention. He alleged that after initially condemning the incident, Abubakar retracted his statement, claiming it had been issued by an aide without authorization. Lawal argued that a leader seeking the highest office in the country should be willing to openly condemn violence and genocide, regardless of the circumstances.
