The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Lagos Zone, is organizing a solidarity rally today, Tuesday, to support five lecturers dismissed by the Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo. The rally comes as a direct response to what the union describes as the “illegal” termination of their members’ employment.
According to a letter of invitation shared by ASUU and obtained by PUNCH Online on Monday, the union alleges that the lecturers were unjustly dismissed by LASU’s administration.
The letter reads:
“This is to respectfully invite you to the National Day of Solidarity Rally in support of five of our members illegally dismissed from service by the inept, inglorious, and vindictive administration at the Lagos State University, Ojo.”

The rally is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. today, drawing attention to what ASUU considers a case of injustice against its members.

In 2019, LASU’s management dismissed several key ASUU members, including:

The university cited accusations of the unauthorized removal, retention, and distribution of confidential official documents as the reason for their dismissal.
However, the lecturers in question have consistently denied the allegations, claiming their termination was unjust and without merit.
