Ekiti State Implements New Work-from-Home Policy for Civil Servants....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a significant move aimed at alleviating the economic pressures on workers, Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has announced a new work-from-home policy for civil servants. This initiative, which takes effect on September 9, 2024, is designed to provide flexible working arrangements while maintaining essential services in the state.
Governor Oyebanji, through his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Yinka Oyebode, explained that the new policy aims to cushion the impact of the current economic situation on state workers. The initiative will not apply to essential workers, including teachers, core health personnel, and security staff, who will continue their duties as usual.
Under the new policy, the work-from-home schedule varies by job level:
- Officers on levels 01-07 will work from home three days a week.
- Officers on levels 08-12 will work from home two days a week.
- Officers on levels 13-17 will work from home once a week.
This structured approach ensures that all civil servants can benefit from the arrangement while still fulfilling their roles effectively.
Each government agency in Ekiti State has been instructed to create a sustainable work-from-home schedule that does not compromise service delivery. Oyebode emphasized the importance of maintaining efficiency in public service during this transition.
“The new arrangement will be in place for two months and will be subject to periodic review based on the prevailing circumstances,” he added. This review process will help the state government adapt the policy as needed.
The work-from-home initiative is part of a broader commitment by the Oyebanji administration to support workers’ welfare. The governor’s office confirmed that this policy would not interfere with other ongoing palliative measures, such as monthly wage awards for workers and pensioners, as well as a free bus service for employees and students.
