The prank, which initially began with some South Africans ordering Bolt rides in Lagos, Nigeria, only to cancel the orders upon the drivers’ arrival, quickly sparked a retaliatory response from Nigerians. In response, some Nigerians began ordering rides in Johannesburg and Cape Town from Lagos, only to cancel the bookings as well. This back-and-forth has now grown into a cross-border rivalry, with significant consequences.
Dilan, visibly distressed, explained that the prank has gone too far and is causing serious harm to businesses in South Africa. “Nigerians, I’m on my knees. I’m begging you people to stop this. You guys have skyrocketed to another level,” he pleaded in the video. “You guys have damaged a lot of businesses back in South Africa. So many businesses have closed apps. This is getting out of hand. You are destroying people’s businesses. You have destroyed millions.”

Wike criticized Amaechi’s record as Minister of Transportation, claiming he neglected Rivers State while funneling the University of Transportation project to Daura in Katsina State in a failed bid for higher office.
