Edo PDP Claims APC Plans to Rig Election with Fake INEC Staff
Edo PDP Claims APC Plans to Rig Election with Fake INEC Staff....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The Edo State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, has raised serious concerns regarding the integrity of the upcoming elections. He claims that the All Progressive Congress (APC) is devising plans to rig the elections by recruiting fake technical personnel from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to manipulate the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).
During a press conference in Benin City on Friday, Aziegbemi emphasized that the APC’s recent actions indicate they cannot be trusted with the governance of Edo State. He pointed out their failure to upload the required number of agents for the 3,037 polling units across the state, a task that should have been straightforward.
“We wish to draw the attention of INEC and Edolites to the sinister plan of the APC, which has been uncovered by our intelligence unit,” Aziegbemi stated. “APC has perfected a plan to use fake INEC staff posing as Technical Staff to tamper with the BVAS machine on election day to inflate the number of accredited voters.”
In light of these allegations, Aziegbemi called on INEC to publish the names and photographs of all appointed Registration Technology Executives (RTECs) for the election to ensure transparency. He expressed confidence that the APC’s attempts to rig the election would ultimately fail. “APC knows they cannot win the election and have resorted to these rigging plans, which will fail by the grace of Almighty God,” he added.
Addressing the requirements set by INEC for all participating parties, Aziegbemi noted that none of the 17 parties involved managed to meet the upload requirement completely. He revealed that the APC was only able to upload agents for 1,482 polling units in a single local government area, leaving many others unattended.
“INEC had issued a timetable for the governorship election, which included 13 critical items, one of which was the submission of names of political agents to be uploaded on the INEC portal. The portal opened on July 17 and closed on July 30,” he explained. “On August 29, 2024, INEC called an emergency meeting with the National Chairmen and Secretaries of political parties. To our amazement, the APC did not meet the requirement in 3,037 polling units.”
Aziegbemi emphasized that the PDP successfully uploaded polling agents in 4,378 units, further highlighting the APC’s shortcomings. “A party that cannot upload its polling unit agents in two-thirds of the polling units cannot be trusted with power in our State. We demand that no political party be allowed to correct this anomaly,” he asserted.
In response to these allegations, Prince Kassim Afegbua, the Media Director of the APC Campaign Council, dismissed Aziegbemi’s claims as mere distractions. “The PDP has just revealed what they are planning to do, but the bad news is that we are monitoring them closely,” Afegbua stated.
He accused the PDP of attempting to manipulate the situation and insisted that they had previously engaged in efforts to hack and clone information related to the BVAS. “Now that they see that is not working, they want to devise another method,” he said, asserting that the APC has details of the PDP’s strategies.
Afegbua also alleged that members of the PDP are evading investigations related to past violent incidents and are hiding in the Edo State Government House. He urged the PDP to focus on their campaign rather than creating diversions.
As the election date approaches, the tensions between the PDP and APC continue to escalate, raising critical questions about the integrity of the electoral process in Edo State. The public remains vigilant as both parties prepare for what promises to be a highly contested election.

Benin Republic Foils Coup: Military Arrests 13 Soldiers Behind Failed Takeover.

The arrests came after a group of officers, calling themselves the Military Committee for Refoundation, appeared on national television on Sunday morning, claiming to have removed President Patrice Talon and dissolved all state institutions. The officers asserted that they had seized control of the government.
The presidency, however, confirmed that President Talon is safe and that loyalist forces are restoring order. Authorities described the coup attempt as the work of “a small group” with limited reach, adding that the city and the country remain secure.
Regional bloc ECOWAS has condemned the attempted takeover, describing it as a serious and unacceptable challenge to the democratic will of the people. In a statement issued in Abuja, the Commission called for strict adherence to the country’s Constitution and praised the efforts of the government and the Republican Army in regaining control. ECOWAS warned that the plot’s leaders would be held accountable for any loss of life or property arising from their actions and reaffirmed its full support for Benin, including potential deployment of the regional standby force if necessary.

While specific details of their discussions were not disclosed, the meeting is widely interpreted as part of preparatory consultations ahead of the 2027 elections. Atiku described the encounter as a pleasure, stating, “It was a pleasure catching up with former President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday evening, following his recent return from Guinea-Bissau.”
Separately, Atiku’s Senior Political Assistant, Olarenwaju, attributed the former Vice President’s actions against Jonathan in 2015 to a breach of a gentleman’s agreement. Speaking during an Space discussion titled “APC Must Go,” Olarenwaju explained that his alignment with Atiku was motivated by a broader vision for Nigeria’s progress. He said, “Most of the answers I’m going to give tonight are not just based on my deliberations with Atiku, they are based on my desire for a better Nigeria. At the end of the day, if Nigeria is better, my life is better and easier as a Nigerian. So I only find myself with Atiku; in 2015, I didn’t find myself with Atiku, I found myself on the side of Goodluck Jonathan.”
