APC Confident of Victory in Edo Governorship Election, Says Ganduje
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has expressed strong confidence that the party will secure victory in the upcoming Edo governorship election scheduled for September 21. Ganduje emphasized that the party’s campaign is gaining momentum and that they are poised to reclaim Edo State, which was previously under APC control. “Our campaign is in high spirits, we are getting ready for that election, and we believe we will be able to recover our state,” he stated. He attributed the previous loss to internal issues within the party but expressed confidence in overcoming these challenges to regain control from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The APC Chairman also discussed the party’s strategy for the upcoming Ondo governorship election in November, noting that despite the challenges following the death of the former governor, the party successfully conducted primaries and selected a candidate who enjoys broad support. “Ondo State is already an APC state, and we are confident of retaining it,” Ganduje said.
Looking ahead, Ganduje outlined the party’s broader ambitions, particularly in the South-East geopolitical zone, where the APC aims to increase its influence. He noted that the APC currently governs Ebonyi and Imo states and has set its sights on capturing Anambra, a state long governed by the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). “We are working hard to ensure that we capture most of the states in the South-East,” he remarked.

During a press briefing held at Bodejo’s home in Uke, located within the Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, the Fulani socio-cultural association declared that its large voting bloc would exclusively support political candidates and parties that actively prove their dedication to the progression and well-being of the Fulani community.
Conveying the group’s grievances, Nasarawa State Chairman Akhajo Abubakar voiced deep frustration regarding the ongoing incarceration of their leader. Abubakar emphasized that the organization’s political direction and voter alignment in the upcoming polls will heavily depend on how leadership and members of the community are treated by the ruling establishment. Highlighting their political leverage, Abubakar noted that the Fulani community boasts over one million registered voters in Nasarawa State alone, giving them substantial muscle to sway electoral results.
This political friction surfaced on the heels of Bodejo’s fresh detention by operatives of the DSS, which occurred immediately after he secured his release from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Prior to this second detention, legal representatives of the Miyetti Allah leader had successfully satisfied all requirements tied to his administrative bail. However, as Bodejo was departing the EFCC national headquarters in Abuja on a Friday, DSS agents intercepted him and took him back into custody.

The Chairman further declared that any individual acting in opposition to his political interests in Ohaukwu risks being declared persona non grata. Emphasizing that politics is his sole livelihood, Ituma stated that anyone attempting to undermine his position should not approach the council area.
In a direct quote from his address, he remarked: “Anyone who tries to do so will be declared persona non grata. This is the time for politics. I don’t have a shop at the International Market or Okwo Ngbo Market; politics is my business. Anyone who wants to put sand in my garri should not come close to Ohaukwu.”
This hardline stance has ignited public discourse regarding the nature of political rhetoric and perceived intimidation directed toward opposition groups as the nation gears up for the 2027 general elections.
