Jubilant Celebration: DSS Personnel React to Resignation of Director-General Yusuf Bichi....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Personnel of the Nigerian Secret Police, known as the Department of State Services (DSS), have recently made headlines after a video surfaced showing them celebrating the resignation of former Director-General Yusuf Bichi. This surprising display of joy follows President Bola Tinubu’s announcement on Monday regarding new appointments within Nigeria’s intelligence agencies.
In an official statement released by Ajuri Ngelale, the spokesperson for the presidency, it was confirmed that Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed has been appointed as the new Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), while Mr. Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi takes the helm at the DSS. Ambassador Mohammed brings a wealth of experience, having served in various capacities since joining the NIA in 1995, culminating in his role as the head of the Nigerian mission to Libya.
The video, which has rapidly spread across social media platforms, captures DSS personnel jubilantly cheering, dancing, and exchanging congratulatory remarks in response to Bichi’s exit. Independent verification by SaharaReporters confirmed the video’s authenticity, highlighting the widespread discontent among DSS personnel during Bichi’s leadership. Many expressed that his policies had fostered division within the ranks.
Reactions from Nigerian netizens have underscored this sentiment. One user, Thεό Abu, remarked, “DSS Personnel celebrating the removal of DSS DG, Bichi. The new DG must do everything possible to make this organization work for the good of Nigeria.” Another user, A. Ayofe, expressed disbelief upon seeing the video, stating, “When a friend sent this to me how their people are celebrating the removal of DSS DG, Bichi and I didn’t believe it until I saw this video.”
Human rights advocate Omoyele Sowore also weighed in, expressing hope that the next official to be removed from office would be the current Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun. He remarked, “The @OfficialDSSNG officials here are jubilant over the removal of Son-Of-A-!Bich-i (this is how I addressed him while I was detained at the DSS HQ).” Sowore continued, “But these are the same officers sent to do all the dirty jobs, and they’ll carry them out ‘diligently.’ Wait until the current IG of @policeng, Kayode Egbetokun, is retired (hopefully next week or when he’s eventually disgraced out of office), and you will see senior police officers throwing their berets in the air in jubilation.”

Atiku Opens Up On ADC 2027 Game Plan, Says Consensus Candidate Comes First.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will first pursue a consensus arrangement before considering a primary election for its 2027 presidential ticket.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Atiku made this known during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday while discussing the party’s leadership and strategy ahead of the next general election.
He said he is open to backing a consensus candidate if that becomes the party’s collective decision, stressing that such support should not be interpreted as stepping aside.
“It is not about stepping aside, but whether I am willing to support, and yes, I will,” Atiku said.
According to him, the ADC’s first priority is to build internal unity and reach an agreement among stakeholders before considering a competitive primary process.
“Our first option will be to work out a consensus. If that doesn’t happen, then of course we will explore other options. And yes, I will support whoever eventually emerges,” he stated.
Atiku also expressed confidence in the political experience within the party, saying he believes a consensus is achievable and may make a full-scale primary contest unnecessary.
“That remains our preferred path. We will go for primaries if consensus fails, but I honestly do not expect it to get to that stage because we are dealing with mature and experienced politicians,” he added.
His comments come amid growing political consultations and coalition talks as parties begin to position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
