Enugu State Resident Appeals to Governor Mbah for Urgent Reconstruction of Demolished Restaurant
Enugu State Resident Appeals to Governor Mbah for Urgent Reconstruction of Demolished Restaurant....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
A resident of Enugu State, Mr. Ikechukwu Okeke, is urgently seeking intervention from Governor Peter Mbah regarding the delayed reconstruction of his restaurant, Breathe Restaurant & Lounge. Earlier this year, structures worth millions of Naira were demolished by the Enugu Capital Territory Development Authority (ECTDA), citing the alleged lack of title documents.
Despite public outcry following the demolition, the Enugu State Government assured Mr. Okeke that the facility would be rebuilt. However, six months have passed, and no work has commenced, prompting Okeke to write an open letter to the governor.
In his letter, Mr. Okeke expressed gratitude for the initial response from Governor Mbah, which included the delivery of construction materials such as cement, molded bricks, and sand to the site. He highlighted that this action rekindled hope not only for himself but also for the many individuals who relied on Breathe Restaurant for their livelihoods.
“Your Excellency,” he stated, “I am compelled to acknowledge and commend your administration’s unwavering commitment to infrastructural development across Enugu State.” Okeke praised the remarkable progress achieved since the governor took office and expressed his appreciation for the support provided thus far.
However, he pointed out the unfortunate reality of the situation: “Despite your directives and the materials provided, work on the reconstruction of my business premises has yet to commence. Over six months have passed since your initial intervention, and the materials delivered by the government remain exposed to the elements.”
The prolonged inactivity of the restaurant has severely impacted Okeke and his employees. “My business has been inoperative since March when the demolition occurred, and this prolonged period of inactivity has taken a severe toll on our lives,” he lamented. He earnestly urged the governor to expedite the reconstruction process as initially promised.
Mr. Okeke also addressed rumors suggesting that the delay might be due to tribal bias, stating, “In this period of despair, there have been whispers of victimization based on tribalism. Such rumors, though distressing, have not swayed my faith in your administration’s commitment to justice and equity for all.”
