Explosive Cache Uncovered: Niger State Police Dismantles Terrorist Threat....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Niger State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in countering terrorism by uncovering a large cache of explosive devices, including bombs and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), hidden across multiple locations in the state. The discovery is suspected to be linked to terrorist and bandit groups that have been terrorizing several local government areas in Niger State.

Ongoing investigations aim to identify the exact sources of these dangerous materials. However, early indications suggest that they were concealed by criminal elements who have been active in the region. The explosive devices were found in various areas, including Galadima-Kogo in Shiroro Local Government Area, Mutun-Daya in Munya LG, and the Gbeganu area of Minna.

According to Wasiu Abiodun, the Command’s spokesperson, this discovery results from diligent counter-insurgency operations conducted between 2021 and 2023. These operations were carried out in collaboration with other security agencies, reflecting a united effort to rid the state of terrorist threats.

The explosive devices were safely neutralized on August 22, 2024, at a location behind Zuma Rock in Suleja. The operation was supervised by SP Mohammed Mamun, Officer in Charge of the EOD-CBRN (Explosive Ordinance Disposal – Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) Unit of the Command, ensuring that the threat was completely eliminated without any harm to civilians.

In his statement, Abiodun emphasized the commitment of the Niger State Police Command to maintaining a secure environment for all residents. Under the direction of Commissioner of Police CP Shawulu Danmamman, the command has been proactive in destroying these dangerous devices to prevent future attacks.

Some of the notable finds include four pipe-borne IEDs buried in Galadima-Kogo, explosives hidden in suspected military missile shells and a 5kg cooking gas cylinder in Mutun-Daya, and various other explosive materials in the Gbeganu area of Minna.

This development follows a recent tragedy where suspected bandits killed at least 13 farmers in the state, underscoring the ongoing security challenges in the region. Galadima-Kogo, one of the areas where explosives were discovered, was also the site of a deadly bomb explosion in 2022, which claimed the lives of officers from the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps.

THE NET CLOSES: Secret Police And Intelligence Agency Open Joint Investigation Into NFF Leadership.

Top officials within the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are facing a high-stakes joint investigation by the Department of State Services (DSS) and the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) over alleged communication with foreign entities that could compromise national security.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to a security source cited by Vanguard, intelligence agencies intercepted alarming messages exchanged between certain federation executives and foreign nationals. Sources clarified that this national security probe is distinct from ongoing financial investigations into a 17 billion Naira federal intervention fund allocated for players’ wages and bonuses—matters typically handled by anti-corruption bodies like the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC).

The mounting pressure has created severe turmoil within the organization. Up to half of the NFF executive board are reportedly weighing or have tendered resignations amid fears surrounding the intelligence probe. This leadership crisis also casts doubt on the upcoming NFF board election scheduled for September 27 in Lafia, Nasarawa State.

Concurrently, the National Sports Commission (NSC) has reportedly directed the executive committee to step down following public outrage. This discontent stems from unprecedented sporting failures, marked by both the Super Eagles missing out on the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the Super Falcons failing to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup—representing the first time in history that both senior national teams have suffered simultaneous qualification misses.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reaffirmed Senator Adeola Olamilekan as its official flagbearer for the upcoming Ogun State governorship race, firmly dismissing parallel claims made by Mr. Abayomi Hunye.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In an official statement released in Abuja, APC National Secretary Senator Ajibola Basiru labeled Hunye as a suspended “imposter” with no legal or moral authority to represent the party. Basiru clarified that the party’s legitimate ticket belongs to Senator Olamilekan and his running mate, Balogun Abiodun, whose credentials have already been officially submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal.

According to the national leadership, Hunye’s membership status has been inactive due to a grassroots suspension originating from Tube Ward in Ipokia Local Government Area, which was subsequently endorsed by the Ogun State Working Committee. The party accused Hunye of engaging in anti-party behavior and deliberate attempts to sow discord within its ranks.

Consequently, the APC has cautioned the general public, stakeholders, and political groups against engaging in any political or financial dealings with Hunye under the party’s banner, noting that individuals who do so will act entirely at their own risk. Supporters across the state have been urged to remain calm, orderly, and focused as the political process continues.
