Governor Ododo praised the judiciary for its steadfastness, calling it the “last hope of the common man.” He emphasized that the court’s ruling came despite significant threats and attempts to undermine justice by those intent on reversing the will of Kogi State’s citizens.
In his statement, the governor extended his appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for his unwavering support throughout the election process. He urged the leaders of opposition parties to collaborate with his administration to enhance democracy and deliver more benefits to the people of Kogi State.
Ododo encouraged his supporters and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to celebrate the party’s triumph following the Supreme Court’s judgment. He characterized his victory as a divine act and described the November 11 governorship election as a contest among family members striving to serve the public.
“I feel elated about our victory and how the judiciary held on to the point of law,” he stated, emphasizing the importance of upholding justice in the face of emotional pressure. The governor asserted that the election was remarkably peaceful, transparent, and credible, marking it as the most significant electoral process in the state’s history.
Governor Ododo called on opposition leaders to join him in advancing Kogi State. He urged unity among all stakeholders to discuss state affairs and pursue shared goals for the community’s prosperity.
He reassured the public of his commitment to serve with dedication and integrity. Governor Ododo pledged that his administration would focus on innovative strategies to enhance the delivery of democratic benefits to Kogi State’s residents.
The Supreme Court’s ruling on Friday confirmed the victory of Ododo from the All Progressives Congress in the November 11, 2023 governorship election. The five-member panel concluded that the appeal by the Social Democratic Party and its candidate, Muritala Ajaka, lacked merit and thus dismissed it.
