Michael, the founder of the Passion for Positive Change Initiative, made these allegations during a congress held by the protesters at the stadium on Saturday.
According to a report by Punch, Michael stated that police and Department of State Services (DSS) officers withdrew, allowing soldiers to trap them. The protesters were then subjected to multiple rounds of teargas and were forced to seek refuge in the nearby bushes.
He also mentioned that they remained hidden in the bushes for nearly four hours while the military fired live rounds.
Police Denies Killing of Six People During Protests in Niger
In a related development, the Commissioner of Police in Niger State, CP Shawulu Danmmaman, has denied claims of fatalities associated with the #EndBadGovernance protests in Suleja town, Niger State.
In a press statement, CP Danmmaman stated that there was no information confirming deaths during the protests, contradicting earlier reports from some media outlets.
However, he acknowledged incidents of vandalism and property damage at the Tafa Local Government Area secretariat.
This announcement followed his recent visits to Suleja and Tafa Local Government Areas to assess the situation.
Naija News reports that the #EndBadGovernance protests have been taking place nationwide, with varying reports of violence, fatalities, and periods of calm from different regions.
