Bello’s Peaceful Kogi Illusion: Okai Blasts Ex-Governor For Misleading The PublicUsman Okai Austin, the 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the House of Representatives in Dekina/Bassa, has rejected claims that former governor Yahaya Bello is responsible for the peace in Kogi State amid the #EndBadGovernance protests.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Okai criticized the assertion that Bello is maintaining calm in the state, arguing instead that the former governor’s actions and policies have been harmful to Kogi. This response comes after Sulaimon Adejoh’s article credited Bello with ensuring peace in Kogi by opposing the nationwide protests.

Adejoh had suggested that Bello, who supported President Bola Tinubu’s administration, was instrumental in quashing the protests in Kogi. Adejoh wrote, “Yahaya Bello, who restored security during his tenure, has continued to influence the state’s stability by supporting Tinubu and preventing the protest agenda from gaining traction.”

However, Okai refuted Adejoh’s claims, pointing out that Bello’s tenure had resulted in significant hardship for the people of Kogi. Okai took to Facebook to clarify, “Contrary to the claims, Yahaya Bello’s administration contributed to the severe hunger in Kogi State. The current peace is due to the efforts of other leaders like Muri Ajaka, Senator Echocho, and Karimi, who urged calm during the protests.”

He continued, “Bello, who is metaphorically trapped in the Government House in Lokoja, is far from being a peacekeeper. His actions have only worsened the state’s suffering. His current stance is more about distracting from his ongoing issues with the EFCC rather than genuine peacekeeping. The people of Kogi have endured enough under his leadership, which has made them some of the most disadvantaged in Nigeria.”

Okai concluded by criticizing Bello’s attempts to take credit for the state’s tranquility, emphasizing that the real sources of peace and stability come from other leaders and the resilience of the people of Kogi.
