Rivers State Government Cracks Down: Wike’s Ally’s Five-Storey Building Sealed Over Plan ViolationThe Rivers State government has sealed a five-storey building belonging to Samuel Nwanosike, the former Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area. The action was taken due to alleged violations of the approved building plan.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Nwanosike, a close associate of Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, had initially submitted a plan for a four-storey building. However, the structure was expanded to five storeys without undergoing a plan review.

The property, located in the GRA area of Port Harcourt and reportedly intended to operate as a hotel, was found to be nearly completed at the time of the seal. The operation was conducted on Wednesday by officials from the Rivers State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.

Isaac Umejuru, the Commissioner for Urban and Physical Development, explained that the building’s expansion beyond the approved plans constituted a breach. He stated that the ministry had sealed the property to perform integrity tests before deciding on further actions.

A video from the scene captured a heated exchange between Nwanosike and ministry officials. During the confrontation, Nwanosike expressed defiance, stating, “Nobody can intimidate me,” while officials maintained that the issue was about adherence to regulations rather than intimidation.

Nwanosike also claimed that he had formally addressed the issue in writing without receiving a response. He further questioned the rationale behind the N555 billion fine imposed, suggesting it was excessive.

An official from the ministry responded, “Nobody is intimidating you. You breached the approval given. This building was sealed due to that breach, not because of any personal vendetta.”
