The actor shared the remarks on his Instagram page, where he accused several entertainers of remaining silent about poor governance in the country because they hope to benefit financially from politicians during election campaigns.

According to him, instead of pushing for reforms that would create a functional system for the film industry—such as ensuring actors earn royalties from their past movies—many celebrities prefer to align themselves with politicians whom he believes are contributing to the country’s problems.

Eke also claimed that a number of celebrities are struggling financially and are willing to compromise their principles for monetary gain.

He wrote that many actors and musicians watched the country struggle with corruption and poor leadership but chose to stay quiet, waiting for politicians to pay them to appear and perform during campaign events.

The actor added that if Nigeria had a proper entertainment structure, many performers would still be earning royalties from films they featured in years ago. Instead, he said, some entertainers choose to associate with political figures rather than demand better systems for the industry.

Eke concluded by saying that many celebrities are desperate and ready to trade their conscience for money, noting that conscience alone does not put food on the table.

Iroegbu made the remark while reacting to the outcome of the Appeal Court judgment concerning the PDP National Convention held in Ibadan, Ibadan, last November.

The Court of Appeal in Abuja on Monday dismissed an appeal filed by the faction led by Taminu Turaki. The court also upheld an earlier ruling by the Federal High Court that restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission from recognising the outcome of the PDP’s 2025 national convention.

Speaking during an interview on Prime Time on Arise Television, Iroegbu insisted that the PDP cannot operate as an extension of the APC.

According to him, anyone within the PDP openly supporting the APC government should simply defect to the ruling party instead of maintaining dual loyalty.

He criticised what he described as political inconsistency, saying individuals should not attempt to align with two opposing sides at the same time.

Iroegbu also stated that although the court ruling did not favour his faction, it equally did not legitimise the caretaker committee established by the opposing group.

He argued that the same individuals who formed the committee were already under suspension at the time, a decision that the appellate court has now affirmed.

According to him, with their suspension upheld, it raises questions about the legitimacy of any caretaker structure they created while under disciplinary action.
