FCT Police Commissioner Benneth Igweh expressed gratitude to the public for their vigilance and urged them to continue providing valuable information to support the police in combating insecurity in Abuja.
Josephine Adeh, the command’s spokesperson, addressed the situation in a statement: “The FCT Police Command’s attention has been drawn to social media reports about the alleged entry of suspected bandits into the Federal Capital Territory. Commissioner of Police Benneth Igweh appreciates the public’s environmental alertness and encourages them to keep providing useful information to aid our efforts against insecurity.”
He reassured residents, stating, “The public should continue their lawful activities without fear. The command has deployed all necessary resources and is working diligently to ensure the safety of all residents and prevent any potential attacks within the capital.”
This comes amid heightened concerns following reports that bandits killed 30 security volunteers in Niger, prompting many residents to flee the area.
