Rivers LG Chairman Under Scrutiny Over Alleged Physical Assault On Female Aide.

Published

on

The Chairman of Ahoada West Local Government Area, Hon. Eugene Ekpelle, is being accused of assault by his former media aide, Minnie Ogadinma.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Ogadinma claims that the chairman instructed his brother, Monday Cheta, to attack her after she allegedly tried to damage his reputation.

According to reports, the dispute began after Ogadinma posted on social media about the poor condition of Community Secondary School, Odioku. She alleged that the chairman visited her home on Sunday evening following the post.

Ogadinma said the chairman accused her of attempting to tarnish his image and directed his brother to “teach her a lesson.” She further claimed that Cheta physically attacked her and tried to use a shovel during the altercation, which was only stopped when neighbors intervened. Both she and her mother reportedly sustained injuries, and she was relieved of her media aide duties that same Sunday.

Describing the incident, Ogadinma said:
“On Thursday, I visited my community secondary school in Odioku. I saw how bad the school was—no chairs and no roof over their heads—so I made a video calling for help. I tagged VeryDarkMan in my post, asking him to help renovate the school.

“Yesterday, the chairman came to my house with his younger brother, Monday Cheta, a security man, and a driver. When my mother greeted him, he accused me of trying to damage his image online. He told his brother to ‘teach this small girl a lesson.’

“Monday Cheta pushed open my gate and pushed my mother, causing her to bleed from an old injury. He then entered my compound and began beating me. The chairman allegedly told him to kill me. My mother raised an alarm, and neighbors intervened to stop him. He even tried to hit me with a shovel.

“The chairman reportedly said even if I died, nothing would happen to him.”

Hon. Ekpelle, however, denied the allegations. In a statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Dennis Ezeuwa Lot, the council described the claims as “false, malicious, and deliberately distorted,” insisting that the chairman neither assaulted nor directed anyone to assault Ogadinma. The statement added that the chairman had visited her home for a peaceful discussion and that Ogadinma confronted him with insults. It said she later fell and sustained minor injuries while being restrained by a passerby during a heated exchange.

The council also clarified that issues concerning Community Secondary School, Odioku fall under the jurisdiction of the Rivers State Government, not the local government, and urged the public to disregard attempts to create political tension.

Reacting to the incident, Port Harcourt-based human rights lawyer Chetam Nwala condemned the alleged actions, calling it “a serious disappointment from a public leader” and urged security agencies to ensure justice is served.

At a media briefing in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, the Director of Pilex Centre for Civic Education, Courage Nsirimovu, said Ogadinma “acted within her constitutional rights as a Nigerian citizen to monitor public projects in her community.” Similarly, Green Isaac, Director of Relief International Africa, called for the “immediate arrest and prosecution of the council chairman, a public apology, and compensation for medical expenses and displacement.”

Shocking Exchange: Presidency Blasts Peter Obi Over Alleged Party Control Battle.

Published

on

The Presidency has criticised former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, questioning his leadership ability and accusing him of failing to manage internal crises within the Labour Party (LP).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to reports, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, made the remarks during an interview on African Independent Television (AIT) on Monday.

Dare argued that Obi did not found the Labour Party and does not have full control over its structure, adding that his handling of party disputes raises concerns about his leadership capacity.

He further alleged that Obi has shown a pattern of moving between political platforms rather than resolving internal challenges, insisting that he “cannot fix” his own party.

Dare said the Labour Party’s internal crisis had been visible for years and questioned Obi’s level of involvement in resolving it, suggesting that he instead left the party amid the turmoil.

He stated that such leadership qualities should be scrutinised given national responsibilities, adding, “You cannot fix your party.”

The presidential aide also addressed claims linking the Presidency to the crisis within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), rejecting any involvement and insisting the party’s internal issues were not influenced by the federal government.

He maintained that the ADC situation is already before the courts and should be resolved through judicial processes rather than public agitation or political pressure.

Dare urged all parties involved to respect ongoing legal proceedings, stressing that court decisions would ultimately determine the outcome of the disputes.

He added that the government remains committed to respecting the judiciary and warned against attempts to influence public opinion while cases are still being decided.

Shocking Insight: Don Jazzy Reveals Key Reason Marriages Don’t Last Today.

Published

on

Nigerian music executive Don Jazzy has sparked reactions online after sharing a lighthearted explanation about why many modern marriages seem to break down faster than those of previous generations.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a video that quickly went viral on social media, the Mavin Records boss used wedding cakes as a humorous analogy to compare past and present relationships.

He noted that in earlier times, couples often used fruit cakes made with alcohol for weddings. According to him, such cakes were durable and could last for long periods—sometimes up to a year—allowing couples to preserve and even share portions during their first wedding anniversary.

He jokingly suggested that this long-lasting nature of traditional cakes symbolically reflected the stability of marriages in the past.

Don Jazzy contrasted this with today’s trend, where many couples opt for butter or ice-cream cakes that require careful storage and spoil more easily.

He humorously implied that the shorter lifespan of these modern cakes mirrors the perceived fragility of some contemporary marriages.

He also pointed out that many modern wedding cakes are often heavily decorated with non-edible materials, with only a small portion actually meant for consumption.
