Additionally, the House urged the Federal Government and relevant security agencies to deploy more personnel to Bakori/ Danja Federal Constituency to safeguard residents and their properties.
The House also decided that its leadership would confer with President Tinubu to further discuss the security situation. Furthermore, it committed to investigating recent attacks to bring perpetrators to justice and prevent future occurrences.
The proposed amendment by Hon Ahmed Jaha, following an urgent motion titled “The Issue of Banditry Affecting the Good People Of Bakorydanja Federal Consistency of Katsina State,” highlighted the necessity of foreign assistance due to the perceived limitations of domestic efforts.
However, during the debate, differing opinions emerged. While some members advocated for improved welfare and equipment for security personnel, others opposed seeking foreign aid, considering it a slight to Nigeria’s sovereignty.
Hon Bamidele Salam emphasized the importance of investing in education and alternative livelihoods to address root causes of insecurity, particularly in impoverished areas.
Minority Leader Hon Kingsley Chinda stressed the importance of implementing resolutions on insecurity and addressing food insecurity, which exacerbates the situation.
The motion, moved by Hon Balarabe, highlighted recent attacks in Bakori/ Danja Federal Constituency, resulting in loss of lives, property, and displacement of residents. The House committed to supporting rehabilitation and resettlement efforts, including psychological assistance for trauma victims.
Furthermore, the House directed the police to rebuild destroyed security infrastructure and called for immediate relief assistance from relevant agencies to affected communities.

Popular Islamic Cleric Suspended For Criticising President Tinubu.
The leadership of Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS), Jos faction, has suspended Sheikh Alkali Abubakar Salihu Zaria.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Sheikh Alkali, who had been invited to lead the Ramadan Qur’anic exegesis (Tafsir) at Mokas Mosque in Damaturu, was suspended after delivering a sermon in which he criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other political leaders over rising insecurity in northern Nigeria.
According to Daily Trust, the suspension followed a meeting convened by the National Chairman of the JIBWIS Council of Ulama, Muhammad Sani Yahaya Jingir, which included Sheikh Alkali and state and local representatives of the organisation in Yobe State.
The cleric was accused of making strongly worded remarks against certain political figures, including President Tinubu, and of addressing security issues in a manner considered inconsistent with the organisation’s established methodology.
During one of his Ramadan sessions, Sheikh Alkali condemned corrupt government officials, governors in the North-West, and Tinubu, alleging their failure to curb insecurity in the region. He highlighted the menace of kidnappers and bandits, saying political leaders lacked the will to stop the killings and abductions.
“Today people are abducted and traded as though they are cattle. Victims are taken to the bush, ransoms are negotiated, families plead, while the abductors, often completely ignorant, beat and kick them. Many are stamped on in the stomach even during Ramadan,” he said.
The cleric also criticised what he described as a culture of fearing powerful individuals more than God.
“One of the signs of catastrophes this generation may face is reverence for individuals out of fear. State governors fear Tinubu far more than they fear Allah. If you are in APC, you are treated like a saint; if in the opposition, like a devil. False charges are fabricated against dissenters. Who is Tinubu? He deceives us,” he said.
In response to his suspension, Sheikh Alkali expressed acceptance of the decision, praising Muhammad Sani Yahaya Jingir as both a religious leader and father figure.
On his Facebook page, he wrote: “To my followers, relatives, and associates, take heart. This was destined. I cannot exceed the days Allah has written for me to lead Ramadan Qur’anic exegesis in Damaturu. I urge you to remain disciplined and loyal. What Allah has decided is the best for us.”

I Dey Kampe, God Will Deal With You – Obasanjo Reacts To Fake Death Letter
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has strongly criticized those wishing for his death.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has strongly criticized those wishing for his death.
He made the remarks on Wednesday while delivering a colloquium titled “Burden and Blessing of Leadership: Reflections from Global Africa to the World”, part of the events marking his 89th birthday in Abeokuta.
Obasanjo condemned the circulation of a fake letter in which he was allegedly speaking about his own death, dismissing the claims and saying, “I dey Kampe”—a Yoruba expression meaning he is strong and standing firm.
He emphasized that God made no mistake in keeping him alive and healthy at his age and that his life continues as long as his Creator wills.
“For my final note in this address, I want to draw your attention to the work of some mischief-makers. They publish and circulate a fake document credited to me, claiming I am announcing my death. That is their wish, not God’s.
“God has assured me that He has more for me to do on earth and has given me the strength to accomplish it. And those who wish otherwise will face God’s judgment. I dey kampe, as usual,” he said.

Amupitan Risks Jail As Court Summons INEC Chairman.
The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan, has been ordered to appear before the Federal High Court on March 10, 2026, over allegations of contempt of court.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to Naija News, the summons follows INEC’s alleged failure to comply with a prior court order directing the commission to recognise the National Rescue Mission (NRM) executive led by Chief Edozie Njoku as the party’s legitimate leadership.
The directive was issued by Justice Obiora Egwuatu on Wednesday after the INEC Chairman failed to appear in court.
INEC’s counsel, M.S. Bawa, requested an adjournment, citing an emergency. However, the judge proceeded to issue the summons.
NRM’s lead counsel, Oladimeji Ekengba, argued that contempt proceedings are quasi-criminal and require the defendant’s personal appearance in court. Following this, Justice Egwuatu ordered that a fresh hearing notice be served on Prof. Amupitan, directing him to appear at the next session.
The judge instructed the INEC Chairman to “show cause” why he should not be imprisoned for allegedly disobeying the court’s earlier directive.
The dispute originates from a mandamus order issued on March 5, 2025, which compelled INEC to recognise the outcome of the NRM’s January 2025 convention that produced the Edozie Njoku-led leadership.
Earlier challenges in personally serving Prof. Amupitan with court documents had led the court to approve substituted service of Form 48, allowing the official notice to be delivered to any staff member at INEC’s national headquarters in Abuja.
NRM officials expressed confidence that the electoral commission would ultimately comply with the court order and formally recognise their leadership.
