Tragedy struck during the Sallah celebration in Bauchi State as a violent clash erupted between two groups, resulting in the loss of lives, including the son of the District Head of Miri, Malam Hussaini Abubakar.……READ ALSO
The clash, which occurred between the armed group Yan Ba Beli and a group of hunters accompanying the District Head, left several others injured.
The unfortunate incident occurred during the traditional homage to the Government House by the Emir of Bauchi, accompanied by all District Heads and traditional title holders in the Emirate. The procession to the Government House was disrupted when members of Yan Ba Beli allegedly attacked horse riders from the entourage of the District Head.
In response to the attack, the hunters accompanying the District Head reportedly fired shots into the air, resulting in further escalation. Tragically, the son of the District Head sustained a fatal injury during the clash.
Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, expressed deep sorrow over the incident, describing it as particularly unfortunate on a day of celebration following the completion of Ramadan fasting. He assured that a thorough investigation would be conducted to bring those responsible for the violence to justice.
The District Head of Miri, Mal Hussaini Abubakar, appreciated the Governor’s concern and urged for a discreet investigation to identify and prosecute the perpetrators of the violent clash.
