Two people have tragically lost their lives, and 13 others have sustained various degrees of injuries in a devastating accident on the Sagamu-Ijebu Ode expressway. The incident occurred at Ajede, shortly after J4, on Saturday, according to Mrs. Florence Okpe, the spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State.

The accident, which took place around 12:10 pm, involved a Toyota Hiace bus with the registration number GUE 59 ZY and a truck registered as BGT 94 LG. Okpe attributed the cause of the accident to excessive speeding, leading the bus driver to collide with a stationary truck parked by the roadside.

Of the fifteen individuals involved in the crash—ten men and five women—thirteen sustained injuries, while tragically, two lost their lives. The injured victims were promptly transported to Hope Hospital at J4, while the deceased were taken to the Ijebu-Ode General Hospital Morgue.

In response to the incident, Sector Commander Anthony Uga cautioned motorists against incorrect parking of vehicles on the highway and emphasized the importance of adhering to speed limits, urging drivers to prioritize careful driving practices.
