SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s spokesperson, disclosed to reporters on Saturday that two individuals had been arrested in connection with the clashes.
Hundeyin recounted that the police received a distress call on Friday concerning suspected cultists from Nasamu and Iyalode Streets engaging in a violent altercation in Ajegunle.
During the clashes, the suspected cultists reportedly caused damage to six commercial vehicles at Boundary Roundabout, Ajegunle.
In response to the report, police teams swiftly moved to the scene, dispersing the suspects, many of whom fled. Despite this, law enforcement agents managed to apprehend two of the culprits at their hideouts.
Tragically, one 25-year-old suspect sustained serious injuries during the clash and was promptly rescued, but succumbed to his wounds after being rushed to the hospital.
Hundeyin assured the public that calm had been restored to the affected areas, with patrols—both on foot and in vehicles—deployed to prevent any further disturbances.
The police spokesperson confirmed that investigations were ongoing, with efforts underway to apprehend the remaining fugitive cultists.
