Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of Economy, shared that MDAs’ revenue surged to N835.70 billion in February, reflecting a remarkable increase compared to previous years.
This surge represents a substantial growth of 441.78%, marking a significant improvement from the N154.25 billion recorded in 2022.
Edun made these revelations during a presentation titled “Reconstructing the Economy for Growth, Investment and Climate Resilience Development” at the Lagos Business School Breakfast Club.
He emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing revenue collection and outlined plans for a 78% year-on-year increase in budgeted revenue for 2024.
To achieve this goal, Edun highlighted the importance of implementing an enhanced revenue assurance model and prudent expenditure measures. These measures include minimizing redundancy, digitizing processes to reduce leakages, and eliminating inefficiencies.
Additionally, Edun outlined a revamped process for capital expenditure payments in 2024, emphasizing direct payments to contractors and promoting a culture of cost curtailment across all MDAs and GOEs.
