President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to depart from the nation’s capital, Abuja, on Sunday for Lagos ahead of the Eid-el-Fitri celebration. The Eid-el-Fitri festival is observed by Muslims worldwide following the conclusion of Ramadan fasting, which lasts for 29 or 30 days.

According to a statement by the presidential spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu will spend the occasion in prayers for Nigeria and with his family, as a mark of respect for the solemn occasion that marks the end of Ramadan.

Ngelale also mentioned that the president will continue his official duties during and after the Eid-el-Fitr holidays.

In other news, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has asserted that neither President Bola Tinubu nor the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, are responsible for the 240 percent tariff hike applicable to power consumers in the ‘A’ category band.

Benson Upah, the Head of Information at NLC, stated in an interview with Punch that the driving force behind this policy is the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Upah condemned the electricity tariff hike as unjust and unpopular, emphasizing that since the government chose to heed the advice of the World Bank and IMF, it should be prepared to face the repercussions.
