Details of the victims’ identities remained elusive at the time of this report, but the heart-wrenching incident occurred when a truck loaded with sand collided with their motorcycle at the Idi-Mango axis of Ore along the Okitipupa-Ore highway.
Eyewitnesses revealed that the tragedy unfolded due to a momentary lapse in judgment by the siblings as they maneuvered their motorcycle onto the highway. The speeding truck, unable to evade the unexpected obstacle, collided with the motorcycle, resulting in a catastrophic outcome.
Speaking on the unfortunate events, a resident who chose to remain anonymous recounted, “They were attempting to merge onto the road from Idi-Mango when they suddenly found themselves in the path of the oncoming truck. It seems they failed to thoroughly assess the situation and failed to anticipate the approaching vehicle.”
In the aftermath of the collision, the driver of the truck absconded from the scene, leaving behind a trail of devastation. The truck, meanwhile, was promptly taken into custody by the authorities, underscoring the gravity of the situation.
Confirming the incident, Ezekiel SonAllah, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, emphasized the importance of responsible driving, particularly for motorcyclists traversing the highways. Tragically, the lifeless bodies of the victims were transported to the General Hospital Mortuary in Ore, while the damaged vehicles were handed over to the NPF Ore Division for further investigation.
