Sheikh Gumi Denounces DSS, FG’s Declaration Of Tukur Mamu As Terrorist Financier
Sheikh Gumi Denounces DSS, FG’s Declaration Of Tukur Mamu As Terrorist Financier....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, a prominent and often controversial Islamic cleric in Nigeria, has strongly criticized the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Federal Government for labeling his associate, Mallam Tukur Mamu, as a terrorist financier without proper legal authority……CONTINUE READING
This rebuke follows the recent release of a list by the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) implicating several entities, including individuals and businesses, in terrorism financing. Among those named is Tukur Mamu, a Kaduna-based publisher who has been in DSS custody since his arrest in Cairo, Egypt, in September 2022.
Mamu is currently facing charges related to his alleged involvement in aiding the terrorists responsible for an attack on the Abuja-Kaduna train in March 2022. Despite the accusations, Mamu has maintained his innocence and is undergoing trial in a Federal High Court in Abuja.
Speaking at a recent event organized by Daily Trust, Sheikh Gumi emphasized the importance of allowing the court to adjudicate on matters such as Mamu’s case rather than resorting to media trials. He questioned the authority of security agencies to unilaterally declare individuals as terrorist financiers while legal proceedings are ongoing.
Gumi refrained from making further comments on Mamu’s case, stating that it is inappropriate to pass judgment until the court delivers its verdict. He urged for Mamu’s case to be handled impartially and emphasized the need to uphold the principles of justice and fair trial.
The Islamic scholar reiterated his belief in Mamu’s innocence and expressed hope for a just resolution to the case. He called on the government to ensure transparency and fairness in the legal process, urging for Mamu’s release if found innocent.
Gumi’s stance underscores concerns over due process and the rule of law in cases involving allegations of terrorism financing, highlighting the delicate balance between national security measures and individual rights.

Atiku Opens Up On ADC 2027 Game Plan, Says Consensus Candidate Comes First.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will first pursue a consensus arrangement before considering a primary election for its 2027 presidential ticket.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Atiku made this known during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday while discussing the party’s leadership and strategy ahead of the next general election.
He said he is open to backing a consensus candidate if that becomes the party’s collective decision, stressing that such support should not be interpreted as stepping aside.
“It is not about stepping aside, but whether I am willing to support, and yes, I will,” Atiku said.
According to him, the ADC’s first priority is to build internal unity and reach an agreement among stakeholders before considering a competitive primary process.
“Our first option will be to work out a consensus. If that doesn’t happen, then of course we will explore other options. And yes, I will support whoever eventually emerges,” he stated.
Atiku also expressed confidence in the political experience within the party, saying he believes a consensus is achievable and may make a full-scale primary contest unnecessary.
“That remains our preferred path. We will go for primaries if consensus fails, but I honestly do not expect it to get to that stage because we are dealing with mature and experienced politicians,” he added.
His comments come amid growing political consultations and coalition talks as parties begin to position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
