The revelation surfaced when an influencer, known as Shola, shared the man’s plea for help on social media.
Accompanying the plea, Shola provided evidence of the staggering losses incurred by the young man.
“8M gone like that and it’s not even his money. Y’all better slow down on this bet addiction,” Shola captioned the post.
According to the evidence shared by Shola, the man initially experienced a stroke of luck, managing to secure winnings amounting to N2.1 million.
However, his brief success was short-lived. Subsequent bets led to continuous losses, eventually resulting in the complete depletion of the entire N8 million stake.
Reactions from Netizens…
@Selfmadeceleb3 remarked, “All these betting influencers should be tracked and arrested; their influence is leading people to loss rather than profit.”
@YachamBulus questioned, “The betting company should be closed. Why would they allow a user to play for that amount? What happened to fair play?”
@Adasu_d_gr8 emphasized, “One thing is certain: you either stop gambling or gambling will stop you. No two ways about this.”
@OmepaKogi_ criticized, “You want to gamble, yet you did not bet on physical games; instead, you went and bet 8M on computer virtual games.”
@King_Shunal shared his experience, “Ever since I used my last card to play and slept hungry, woke up again and had no hope to eat, I shed a tear, knelt down and decided that I’ll never play bet again, but I still played today.”
@jayfund11 offered advice, “Stake responsibly. Don’t borrow to stake. Don’t use your house rent to stake. Don’t use your school fees to stake. Don’t steal money to stake. Stake what you can afford to lose.”
@Irunnia_ expressed skepticism, “I want to believe this is a scam. This update has been exposed. You put 8M on sports betting, and you used it to play virtual games?”
