In a statement issued on Saturday, Okai emphasized the importance of safeguarding the interests of the people of Kogi State amidst concerns of fiscal misdeeds. He highlighted the urgency of addressing the welfare of civil servants affected by such financial discrepancies.

The call comes in light of recent developments where Bello was implicated in an ongoing corruption case involving the diversion of state funds. Despite being named in the case, Bello has yet to be formally charged by the EFCC.

Okai criticized attempts to shield Bello from accountability, stressing the need for enhanced scrutiny of his alleged transgressions. He urged indigenes of Kogi and concerned Nigerians to support the EFCC’s efforts to bring Bello to justice.

Expressing concern over the staggering loss of public funds and revelations of property acquisitions in lucrative locales, Okai underscored the importance of upholding transparency and accountability in governance.
