Omirhobo Challenges Gowon’s Administration Over Alleged Failure In South-Eastern Reconstruction Post-Biafra War....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Human rights lawyer Malcolm Omirhobo has strongly criticized the administration of retired Military Head of State General Yakubu Gowon, asserting that the Reconciliation, Reconstruction, and Rehabilitation (3 Rs) policy implemented in the South-Eastern region of Nigeria after the Biafra civil war was merely rhetoric and lacked substantive action……..CONTINUE READING

Omirhobo’s remarks come in response to recent statements made by General Gowon regarding the Biafran civil war, wherein he challenged the former Military Head of State to provide evidence of any Federal Government initiatives undertaken in the South-Eastern region post-war.

During a press briefing following his meeting with President Bola Tinubu, General Gowon acknowledged the criticisms leveled against him concerning the handling of the Biafra civil war, stating, “If I can remember, when I was fighting the war, I was told I was too slow and that probably Nigeria cannot make it and that we should now seek for discussion. Well, did we do it or not? They probably do not know the problem underground, so that is where we are.”

However, in a recent post on his X account, Omirhobo challenged General Gowon to present tangible evidence of Federal Government efforts aimed at rebuilding infrastructure destroyed during the Nigerian/Biafran war and initiating post-war development projects in Eastern Nigeria.

Furthermore, Omirhobo questioned the effectiveness of the “3 Rs” policy, emphasizing that it appeared to be more rhetoric than substantive action. He demanded proof of support provided to Easterners, including infrastructure repair, establishment of government projects, financial assistance, educational support, and job reinstatement for those affected by the war.

Omirhobo asserted, “Take It from me, the war ended with Nigeria being the Victor and the Easterners the Vanquished. The (3 Rs) Reconciliation, Reconstruction, and Rehabilitation policy of Gowon’s government was by mouth, not deed.”
