Oborevwori Pledges Resolution Of Delta’s Security Challenges Amidst Protests Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has called for increased prayers to help his administration overcome the persistent challenges facing the state.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Governor made this appeal during a courtesy visit by the State Executive of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), led by State Chairman Bishop Kingsley Enakhireri, at the Government House in Asaba on Wednesday. He assured that his administration is dedicated to ensuring the security of lives and property in the state.

Addressing the security issues, Governor Oborevwori remarked that these challenges are temporary and will eventually be resolved. He emphasized that despite a few incidents, the state remains largely peaceful.

“Regarding security, we are doing our utmost. We want to assure the people of Delta that this is just a phase, and it will pass. Please continue to pray for us as we continue to serve the people,” he stated.

Governor Oborevwori highlighted Section 14(2b) of the 1999 Constitution, which stipulates that “the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government,” and affirmed his administration’s commitment to this principle.

Commenting on the ongoing national protests, the Governor criticized some opposition figures for attempting to take credit for the peaceful nature of the protests in Delta State. He credited the collective efforts of all stakeholders, especially the prayers of the church, for maintaining peace.

“I want to thank the PFN for its role during this period of national protest. We can see that the state is peaceful. Some were expecting violence like during the ENDSARS protests,” he said.

He continued, “I was watching a TV station where someone claimed they were responsible for the peaceful atmosphere in Delta State during the protests. How? Such statements are often made out of ignorance. Our faith leaders prayed, and I stayed in the state to monitor the situation closely.”

Governor Oborevwori expressed gratitude to the Civil Society organizations and other groups for their understanding and decision not to protest, knowing it could be hijacked.

“People should not take undue credit. We return all glory to God Almighty. Many of those making these claims do not even reside in the state and are unaware of the actual situation,” he added.

Earlier, Bishop Enakhireri pledged the PFN’s unwavering support for Governor Oborevwori’s administration and praised his wisdom in managing the state’s affairs, particularly in handling the ongoing national protests.
