The incident, which occurred while feeding the wild cats, resulted in injuries to the zookeeper. Details of the incident remain unclear, but it follows the tragic death of veterinary technologist Olabode Olawuyi, who was killed by a lion in the same garden.

Expressing condolences, Odewumi stated that Olawuyi’s death was a loss to the entire OAU community and emphasized the need to address the welfare of the deceased’s family. The injured zookeeper, whose identity was not disclosed, is reported to have sustained injuries, possibly during the chaotic aftermath of the incident.

As the union leader, Odewumi pledged to gather more information about the incident and announced plans to meet with the university’s management to discuss support for the deceased’s family. He urged the family to accept the unfortunate event and assured them of assistance from the university.

The tragic incident has cast a shadow over the OAU community, with condolences pouring in for the deceased and concern raised for the welfare of zookeepers working in the garden.
