Speaking at the Daily Sun Newspaper Awards in Lagos on Saturday night, Shettima, represented by his spokesman Stanley Nkwocha, expressed confidence in Tinubu’s ability to revitalize the economy and ensure a brighter future for the nation through concerted efforts, mutual respect, and open dialogue.
Highlighting the importance of media collaboration in achieving national progress, Shettima emphasized the role of journalists as watchdogs, truth-seekers, and influencers of public discourse.
He announced the commencement of the Pulaku Initiative, a comprehensive resettlement program aimed at addressing the root causes of farmers-herders conflicts and revitalizing affected communities with infrastructure development.
Acknowledging the media’s power to shape narratives and hold institutions accountable, Shettima called for transparency, ethical reporting, and fact-checking to combat misinformation and disinformation.
He advocated for mutual respect between the media and government while urging journalists to uphold professional standards and press freedom.

The Supreme Court ruled that the Court of Appeal erred in its decision to order a fresh hearing at the Federal High Court.

Consequently, the apex court fully restored the original 2024 final forfeiture order granted by Justice Dehinde Dipeolu of the Federal High Court in Lagos.

The assets permanently forfeited to the Federal Government include:

Properties in Lagos: Two detached duplexes in Lekki Phase 1, an undeveloped parcel of land on Oyinkan Abayomi Drive, a bungalow and a four-bedroom duplex in Ikoyi, eight apartment units on Adekunle Lawal Road, and a duplex on Bank Road.

Properties in Delta State: An industrial complex currently under construction, situated on 22 plots of land in Agbor.

Funds and Financial Assets: The forfeiture includes $2.045 million in cash and share certificates associated with Queensdorf Global Fund Limited.
