Nivo News reports that the nation’s Commander in Chief returned to Nigeria on Tuesday night.
The President was greeted upon his return by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume; National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu; Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike; Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila; Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani; and various other government officials.
Recall that the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) had criticized President Tinubu for embarking on a private trip to Paris, France, amidst increasing security challenges in the country.
Tinubu had left Abuja for France on January 24, 2024, on a private visit and has now returned.
Speaking with Daily Trust, NEF spokesman Abdul-Azeez Suleiman expressed disapproval of Tinubu’s private trip to Paris during a period when the country is grappling with insecurity, suggesting that it reflects his selfishness and pursuit of personal goals.
Suleiman stated that Tinubu’s actions highlight concerns about Nigeria being under the control of leaders who prioritize personal interests over the welfare and security of the Nigerian people.
He emphasized the voters’ expectation that Tinubu would lead the nation towards a future of security and prosperity, expressing disappointment that leaders like Tinubu appear more focused on personal agendas rather than addressing the needs of the people.
Suleiman emphasized the dire consequences of this lack of leadership, citing ongoing insecurity and the suffering experienced by ordinary Nigerians due to the failure to confront armed criminals effectively.
