Tragic Demise At Lagos State University Teaching Hospital As First Conjoined Twins Pass Away Due To Congenital Heart Problems
Tragic Demise At Lagos State University Teaching Hospital As First Conjoined Twins Pass Away Due To Congenital Heart Problems....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The management of Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) has reported the unfortunate demise of the conjoined twins born in their care. These twins were delivered on October 5 at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, with an estimated gestational age of 33 weeks and six days.
The hospital initially announced the successful delivery of the conjoined female babies, highlighting their good APGAR scores and a combined birth weight of 3.8kg. The twins were joined at the lower chest and abdomen, medically referred to as thoracic omphalopagus, and were delivered by a multidisciplinary team.
In a recent interview with Vanguard in Lagos state, Professor Adetokunbo Fabamwo, the Chief Medical Director of LASUTH, disclosed that the twins had congenital heart issues that were not compatible with life. Regrettably, the first twin passed away on October 15, and the second twin succumbed to the same condition on October 16. Professor Fabamwo emphasized that the complex nature of their joining and the presence of additional abnormalities in their bodies made their case particularly challenging. Despite prompt efforts to separate them by assembling a team of specialists from LASUTH and other hospitals, their conditions proved fatal. However, the mother of the twins is reportedly in good health.

Fubara Hails Tinubu’s Leadership, Confirms Support For 2027 Re-election Amid Ogoni Peace Drive
According to Nivo News, National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu led a high-level presidential delegation to Ogoni, Rivers State, yesterday to advance ongoing peace talks aimed at resuming oil production in the region. The delegation met with Governor Siminalayi Fubara in Port Harcourt and included Works Minister Dave Umahi, Environment Minister Balarabe Lawal, and Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) Group Managing Director Bayo Ojulari.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Oil exploration in Ogoni land has been suspended since 1993 due to violent protests over environmental degradation caused by oil spills and gas flaring. The protests led to the halting of Shell operations under international pressure. Successive administrations had struggled to restart oil production until President Bola Ahmed Tinubu established a peace committee with representatives from all stakeholders, tasked with resolving the long-standing crisis.
The committee tabled various demands, including the lifting of charges against Ken Saro-Wiwa and other Ogoni activists. In a bid to facilitate dialogue, the President granted a state pardon to Saro-Wiwa and others, conferred national honours, and fulfilled other requirements essential for resuming oil exploration.
During the visit, NSA Ribadu conveyed President Tinubu’s appreciation to Governor Fubara for his leadership, describing Rivers State as now one of the most peaceful states in the country. Ribadu emphasized that a “new chapter” is unfolding in Ogoni land, assuring that Nigeria “will no longer be what it used to be.” He also commended the state government for providing a campus for the University of Environment and hosting the South-South zonal office of the NSA.
Ribadu urged the governor to deploy personnel to operate four hospitals being established in Ogoni land.
Works Minister Umahi revealed that President Tinubu had approved a redesign of the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway to pass through Ogoni land, highlighting the 15-kilometre Eleme axis of the East–West Road, which includes five flyovers, one of which is being constructed by the Rivers State Government. The over N200 billion project is expected to be completed by April next year. Umahi also confirmed that plans are underway to dualise the Bonny–Bodo Road and construct two flyovers to further improve regional connectivity.
Environment Minister Lawal reaffirmed that the Ogoniland clean-up project remains a priority, focusing on mangrove restoration, healthcare delivery, human capital development, and women empowerment initiatives recommended by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
NNPCL’s Bayo Ojulari announced that 30 Ogoni indigenes, whose employment was being finalized, would begin work next month. He assured that the company’s future focus will prioritize the people rather than oil alone.
Governor Fubara expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his intervention, stating that resolving a three-decade-old crisis required bold leadership. He highlighted the improved ease of travel along the East–West Road connecting Bonny and Bayelsa and emphasized that sustainable development hinges on peace. Fubara urged Ogoni leaders to engage youths to allow oil operators to repair facilities and prevent fresh spills.
In a separate event, the governor reaffirmed his administration’s capacity to support President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, describing it as a gesture of appreciation for the protection and support Rivers State has received from the President.
