Netflix Eyes Joshua-Paul Fight As Crossover Boxing Fever Sweeps Fans.

Published

on

Nigerian-born British boxing star Anthony Joshua is reportedly in advanced discussions for a December showdown with American YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in Miami, with potential earnings for Joshua pegged at around £70 million. The total purse for the proposed fight is believed to be close to £140 million, to be shared equally between the two fighters.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Negotiations have been progressing rapidly, though Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, cautioned that no agreement has yet been finalized. He acknowledged, however, that the opportunity represents a significant financial incentive. “It is not done yet. There has been a lot of gun jumping on this. I think Jake Paul would be mad to take the fight, but we are in talks. We were discussing a very low-key fight for AJ, but an opportunity has come up to make 50 times more money,” Hearn explained.

This potential bout would mark Joshua’s return to the ring following a painful loss to Daniel Dubois over a year ago. Unlike celebrity exhibition matches, the fight is expected to be a fully sanctioned professional contest under Queensbury rules.

One factor driving momentum for the fight is Netflix, which is reportedly seeking to broadcast the event as part of its growing foray into live sports. The streaming platform is already producing a documentary on Joshua, while Paul’s previous fight against Mike Tyson attracted over 60 million viewers, underscoring strong audience interest in crossover matchups.

Paul’s cancelled fight with Gervonta Davis has also fueled speculation about a potential meeting with Joshua. Over a five-year career, Paul has amassed a 12-1 record, though most wins came against older or less established opponents, with his only loss to Tommy Fury.

Promoter Frank Warren, associated with Tyson Fury, believes the fight will draw massive attention despite potential criticism. “People are going to criticise it, but I don’t see it that way. As long as these guys are both fit, which they are, then I don’t have a problem. It will get a huge audience. AJ doesn’t cause a lot of noise in the US, and Paul does. People like car crashes. It will do well,” Warren said.

Joshua’s camp is also focused on the sporting benefits. Beyond the lucrative payday, the former world champion sees the fight as an opportunity to return to competitive form after an extended period of inactivity. He resumed light training earlier this year, underwent elbow surgery in May, and has been steadily intensifying his regimen since October.

Ambassadorial Nomination Under Fire: Frank Tie Tie Exposes ‘Mistake’ Regarding Ex-FUOYE VC Fasina!.

Human rights lawyer Frank Tietie has criticized the nomination and subsequent confirmation of Professor Abayomi Fasina, the former Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, as a non-career ambassador designate.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

  • Prior to his confirmation, a coalition of civil society organizations protested at the National Assembly on July 7, 2026, opposing Fasina’s nomination due to pending court cases involving allegations of sexual harassment, human rights violations, and victimization.

  • Despite these protests, the Nigerian Senate officially confirmed Fasina’s appointment as a non-career ambassador on Thursday.

Frank Tietie’s Position

  • During an interview on ARISE Television, Tietie argued that nominating an individual with such “baggage” was a mistake, emphasizing that ambassadors represent Nigeria in the same capacity as the President.

  • Tietie stated that the government should have sent the “right signals” by avoiding such controversial appointments, especially given the current state of governance.

  • He argued that even in the absence of a final court judgment, the allegations themselves have “tainted” Fasina’s reputation, and the Senate should have delayed the confirmation until the legal matters were resolved.

  • Tietie also suggested that the National Assembly’s decision overlooks significant social changes regarding how such allegations are now viewed by society.
