The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended the musician known as Aniji Shedrack Chidubem, popularly recognized as Sanij-D, on suspicion of committing fraud against two foreign citizens. The alleged fraud amounts to £9,300.00 from a British citizen named Susan Mclean and $2,000.00 from an American, Diana Rosado Gonzalax.

Sanij-D was taken into custody in the Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. It is alleged that he employed various social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp, along with foreign phone numbers, to deceive his unsuspecting victims.

The EFCC, in a statement released on Monday, stated, “Chidubem allegedly impersonated one Christopher Rossi, a marine engineer who fixes boats and pipelines in Singapore. He was using Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp applications, with foreign phone numbers, as his fraudulent means of perpetrating and defrauding his victims.

The Commission further disclosed that once the investigations are concluded, the suspect will be brought before the court to face charges.

In a separate operation, the EFCC announced the apprehension of an individual named Chike Nosa Agada, an unlicensed foreign exchange dealer, on allegations of defrauding an amount totaling N2 billion. Agada, a 37-year-old native of the Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, was officially declared a wanted person by the Commission on Wednesday, October 11, 2023.

He is accused of engaging in fraudulent activities by deceptively obtaining money and converting it for personal gain, totaling N2 billion. The EFCC disclosed that he was arrested at a residence in the Bourdillion, Ikoyi area of Lagos on Monday, October 16, 2023, during a sting operation by operatives of the Commission, following credible intelligence linking him to the alleged fraud. He will be charged in court as soon as investigations are concluded. A mobile device was recovered from him upon his arrest, according to the anti-graft agency.
