Prominent leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo North have thrown their weight behind Prince Clem Ikanade Agba, the former Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, as their preferred candidate for the upcoming governorship primary election. The endorsement was formally declared during a gathering in Jattu, convened by former Etsako West Local Government Council Chairman, Honourable Alasa Idaro Mohammed.
The meeting aimed to bring Edo North leaders to a consensus on supporting a candidate for the party’s forthcoming governorship primary election and the subsequent 2024 gubernatorial election. Mohammed emphasized the importance of selecting a candidate from Edo North who could effectively represent both the zonal and state interests. He highlighted Prince Clem Ikanade Agba’s extensive experience and recommended him as the ideal candidate to secure the party’s ticket and become the next Governor of the state.

Mohammed praised Agba’s past accomplishments, including his contributions during his tenure as a State Commissioner under Governor Adams Oshiomhole, which led to his nomination as a minister in President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration. He noted that Agba had facilitated more than 76 capital projects in Edo State during his ministerial term, enhancing his electoral prospects, and urged leaders to support his bid for Edo State Governor.
Former Chairman of Etsako Central Local Government Council, Comrade Suleiman Bagudu, also expressed his belief in Agba’s qualifications for the position of Edo State Governor and called for collective efforts to secure his victory. Bagudu emphasized that the party’s governorship ticket was open to candidates from all Senatorial Districts in the state.

Egypt will reduce the squad to the FIFA-required 26 players after their friendly against Russia in Cairo on May 28, before facing Brazil in another warm-up match on June 6 in Cleveland.
The Pharaohs have been drawn in Group G, where they will begin their campaign against Belgium on June 15, followed by matches against New Zealand and Iran.
The squad also includes goalkeepers Mohamed El Shenawy and Mostafa Shobeir, along with experienced midfielders Mahmoud Trezeguet and Emam Ashour, as Egypt prepare for the expanded 48-team World Cup across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
