Delta Police Chief Urges Residents To Turn In Illegal Guns Without Facing Penalties....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In line with the directive of the Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, the Delta State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police CP Wale Abass, is calling upon members of the public who possess illegal and prohibited firearms to voluntarily surrender such weapons to the nearest Police Station, Area Command, or the State Headquarters.

CP Wale Abass emphasizes that individuals unlawfully possessing arms and light weapons will face no penalties if they willingly turn in these illegally held firearms to the police. This initiative is part of the concerted efforts to curtail the proliferation of firearms, reduce their prevalence in Delta State, and prevent these weapons from falling into the wrong hands, potentially being used for criminal activities in the state or elsewhere in the country.

The CP assures the public that the Delta State Police Command has launched an operation to collect all illegal and prohibited firearms currently in circulation. Those who choose to take advantage of this opportunity will not face arrest, sanctions, or harassment.

However, CP Abass issues a stern warning that those who refuse to surrender their weapons will face the full weight of the law when apprehended. Therefore, anyone found in possession of any type of firearm, including pistols, rifles, air weapons, or imitations (such as locally manufactured guns or dummy firearms), will be arrested and prosecuted for unlawful possession of a firearm.

The Commissioner of Police encourages residents to promptly report any suspicious activities related to firearms to their local police stations. Additionally, they can contact the Police Public Relations Office for immediate response and action. Rest assured that the identities of informants will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
