Road Accident Claims Five Lives In Anambra State As Truck’s Container Falls On Bus....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Tragedy struck on Friday morning at the Odumodu Junction by Nteje, along the Onitsha-Awka Expressway in Anambra State, as a road accident claimed the lives of at least five individuals.

The accident involved two vehicles, namely a Mitsubishi L300 commercial bus with registration number XE245AWK and a commercial Daf/Leyland truck with registration number T-19094LA. Reports indicate that the incident occurred around 7:30 a.m., and it involved ten people comprising three adult males and seven adult females.

The fatal accident unfolded when the container of the truck toppled onto the commercial bus while the driver was attempting to navigate through a damaged section of the road. The two vehicles were en route to different destinations, with one headed to Awka and the other to Onitsha.

Tragically, five victims, all females, lost their lives in the accident, while two adult males and two adult females sustained various injuries. Remarkably, one adult male emerged from the incident unscathed.

An eyewitness described the unfortunate event, explaining that both vehicles arrived at the spot simultaneously, and due to the truck’s weight, the container toppled onto the bus, resulting in the crash.

Confirming the accident, Margaret Onabe, the acting Sector Public Education Officer for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), reported that the probable cause of the fatal crash was attributed to the deteriorated condition of the road.

The injured victims were promptly taken to Divine Care Hospital, Umunya, for medical attention, while the deceased individuals were transported to Chira Hospital for confirmation by medical professionals before being transferred to the New Jerusalem Mortuary, Nteje.

Corps Commander Adeoye Irelewuyi, the Sector Commander of Anambra State, expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased victims, offering prayers for the repose of their souls and speedy recovery for the injured. He emphasized the importance of cautious driving and urged motorists to remain attentive to their surroundings, emphasizing the need to “Drive to Arrive Alive.”

Reacting to the development, APC Chairman of Mai’adua Local Government, Mannir Musa, urged party members to accept the outcome in good faith.

He said, “We should all work together for the unity and progress of the party and our people.”

Musa also appealed to Governor Dikko Radda to extend support to aspirants who did not secure tickets.

He further revealed that other positions were also filled through consensus, including Nasir Yahaya for the Daura senatorial district and Mustapha Musa for the Mai’adua constituency seat in the Katsina State House of Assembly.

In his reaction, Yusuf Buhari expressed gratitude to party members for their confidence and support.

He pledged to deliver effective and quality representation to his constituents if elected in the 2027 general elections.

A review of INEC’s portal also shows Baba-Ahmed alongside other members of the National Working Committee (NWC).

Other officials recognised include Kanu Sunday Uchenna as National Secretary, Bayawo Yunusa Abdullahi as National Treasurer, Chuka Patrick as National Financial Secretary, and Vincent Danladi Okudu as National Legal Adviser.

Reacting to the update, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Muhammed Bello Ishaq, welcomed the recognition and dismissed suggestions of internal crisis.

He said, “The update signifies INEC’s recognition of PRP’s new leadership following the successful convention.”

He further added, “It is important to categorically state that there is no such thing as a faction within the PRP; the claims are baseless.”

During the convention, Baba-Ahmed was elected alongside other national officers, including Mallam Buhari Haruna as Deputy National Chairman (North) and Haruna Nanven as National Organising Secretary.

The party also inaugurated zonal representatives across various regions of the country.
