Presidential hopefuls have been advised by Lai Mohammed, the minister of information and culture, not to minimize the achievements of the Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) administration during their campaigns for the 2023 elections.

He singled out Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential nominee, for this accusation.

Mohammed discussed the administration’s water sector scorecard during a press conference on Monday in Abuja.

Let me take this occasion to speak on the rising trend among some opposition presidential contenders to minimize this administration’s accomplishments in order to gain support ahead of the 2023 elections.
“The PDP’s presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, a former vice president, has been the greatest offender in this regard.

“The former vice president was cited as declaring that the All Progressives Congress had done nothing for Nigeria in eight years during his recent campaign in Akure.

What a ridiculous claim from someone who ought to know.
We might perhaps excuse His Excellency the former Vice President, who had recently moved entirely to Dubai and had so lost contact with Nigeria.
The minister said Atiku should not be the one criticising the present regime, claiming that there was no motorable road to his hometown until Buhari became the President.
“Atiku Abubakar should not be the one to criticize the APC-led Federal Government of doing nothing,” he continued.

“Why?
The southern senatorial zone of Adamawa, which served as the state’s food basket and economic nerve center during the PDP’s 16-year control until President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration entered office, had no motorable roads leading to Atiku Abubakar’s hometown or to significant local governments.

“Today, the Mayo Belwa-Jada-Ganye-Toungo Road has been completely built, and Alhaji Atiku utilizes it to travel to Jada, his hometown.”

The minister added that five local government districts in the state of the former vice president were under Boko Haram terrorists’ control prior to the Buhari administration.
“Traditional rulers, such as emirs and leaders, had been driven from their palaces, which the terrorists had commandeered to use as their headquarters.

“Madagali, Michika, Mubi North, and Mubi are the five local governments in the northern senatorial zone that are affected.
