A faction of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) loyal to the reinstated National Chairman, Shehu Gabam, has announced the expulsion of 13 prominent party members, including the party’s sole presidential candidate, Adewole Adebayo.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The development reportedly took place during the party’s national convention and presidential primaries held in Abuja, where delegates aligned with Gabam also adopted Lagos businessman Abimbola Atanda as the new sole presidential candidate through a voice vote.

Those affected by the expulsion include the factional National Chairman, Sadiq Gombe; National Secretary, Olu Agunloye; National Publicity Secretary, Rufus Aiyenigba; as well as Joseph Abu, Maggie Batubo, Sa’adatu Abdullahi, Abimbola Aderemi, Oguchukwu Uba, Huseesini Bello, Alabi Lekan, Rosemary Effiong, and Abubakar Modibo.

The convention also dissolved the National Working Committee before proceeding to elect a new leadership team via voice vote.

The newly constituted National Working Committee has Shehu Gabam as National Chairman, Adebola Abbas as National Secretary, Ibrahim Biu as Deputy National Secretary, Dr Uchechukwu Chukwuma as National Organising Secretary, Muka’ila Mavo as National Legal Adviser, Zakari Nadabu as National Publicity Secretary, Hauwa Ahmed as National Woman Leader, Steven Otu as National Youth Leader, and Abubakar Isiaka as National Financial Secretary.

Announcing the decision, party leaders said the expelled members were sanctioned for allegedly violating the party’s constitution and undermining internal unity and discipline.

The NEC further moved for ratification of the expulsions, insisting the actions were necessary to preserve order within the party.

Speaking after the oath-taking ceremony, Gabam said the party had overcome its internal challenges and was now stronger and more stable.

He described the crisis as “man-made,” adding that the party followed due process and remained committed to institutional discipline.

According to him, “We have come through a lot of challenges as a party. These challenges are all man-made. But we followed a good process… we have bounced back and are fully operational.”

Gabam added that internal crises were sometimes necessary for political parties to grow, stressing that the SDP had emerged stronger and more viable after resolving its disputes.

Luis Enrique has described Arsenal F.C. as the best team in the world without the ball, ahead of their UEFA Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain later this month.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Ligue 1 champions are set to face the newly crowned Premier League winners in Budapest on May 30 in what is widely expected to be a high-stakes final.

PSG go into the encounter as slight favourites, having previously defeated Arsenal 3–1 on aggregate in last season’s semi-finals before going on to crush Inter Milan 5–0 in the final to lift the trophy.

Despite PSG’s recent European dominance, Enrique acknowledged Arsenal’s strength, balance, and intensity under Mikel Arteta, describing them as one of the most complete teams in Europe.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday after Arsenal secured the Premier League title, Enrique praised their consistency and quality throughout the season.

“I believe they deserve to win the league, they have had an outstanding season,” he said.

“We have already faced this Arsenal team, so we are aware of their capabilities.

“Without the ball, they are the best team in the world, and with it, they can score frequently. This creates a remarkable combination for them.”

Arsenal F.C. will be targeting their first-ever UEFA Champions League title, while Paris Saint-Germain aim to secure back-to-back European crowns after finally winning the competition last season.
