The Joint Task Force North-East, Operation Hadin Kai, has confirmed the killing of Abu-Bilal Al-Minuki, described as a senior Islamic State figure, during a coordinated offensive in Metele, Borno State.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

It was gathered that the operation was conducted in collaboration with the United States Africa Command (US AFRICOM).

In a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, Lt.-Col. Sani Uba, troops acted on sustained intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance that led to the identification of a fortified terrorist hideout in the Lake Chad Basin area.

He said the strike targeted the Metele axis, resulting in the elimination of Al-Minuki, also known as Abu Bakr ibn Muhammad ibn Ali al-Mainuki, alongside several commanders and fighters linked to the extremist group.

The military noted that Al-Minuki had been designated a Specially Designated Global Terrorist by the United States in June 2023 under Executive Order 13224 over alleged involvement in financing and coordinating extremist operations across the Sahel and Lake Chad region.

According to Operation Hadin Kai, the assault began at about 12:01 a.m. on May 16 and lasted until around 4:00 a.m., involving precision airstrikes supported by ground forces.

It added that special forces were deployed to block escape routes and reinforce the air component of the mission.

The task force further stated that no casualties or equipment losses were recorded among Nigerian troops during the operation.

It also revealed that battle damage assessments and follow-up clearance operations were ongoing to locate any remaining insurgents in the area.

The military described the mission as a major breakthrough in counterterrorism operations in the North-East, saying it would significantly weaken Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and its affiliated networks operating in the region.

Uzodinma Reportedly Targeted For Removal As PGF Chair Over Shettima’s Role In Tinubu’s Nomination.

A report indicates that President Bola Tinubu is expected to announce his running mate for the 2027 presidential election this week.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Sources cited by the Nigerian Tribune claimed that tensions briefly arose during the submission of Tinubu’s Expression of Interest and nomination forms for the All Progressives Congress (APC), which were reportedly handled through the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), Senator Hope Uzodinma.

According to the sources, Uzodinma had taken the forms to Vice President Kashim Shettima, and both men later proceeded to the APC national secretariat for the formal submission.

Investigations suggest that some officials at the Presidential Villa were uncomfortable with Shettima’s visible role in the process, fearing it created the impression that his position for the 2027 ticket had already been settled, even while consultations were still ongoing.

The development reportedly prompted internal scrutiny of Uzodinma, with some Villa operatives said to have “tested his loyalty” following the incident.

Although there were also claims that Uzodinma attempted to involve Senate President Godswill Akpabio in the submission process, a source said Akpabio declined, citing prior legislative commitments.

The situation allegedly triggered moves by some members of the Progressive Governors’ Forum to challenge Uzodinma’s leadership, but the attempt was said to have been halted following intervention from President Tinubu.

Sources added that the presidency did not push for his outright removal but sought to manage the tension within the forum.

There were also indications that concerns extended beyond the form submission episode, with discussions reportedly touching on internal coordination within the PGF.

According to insiders, the controversy stemmed largely from the perception created by Shettima’s involvement, which some believed prematurely signaled a settled decision on the vice-presidential ticket.

However, other sources argued that Uzodinma’s actions may have been misinterpreted, and that he was not acting with any political intent to influence outcomes.

It was further gathered that the PGF chairman’s role was eventually described as an “administrative error,” which helped ease tensions and prevent further escalation.

Meanwhile, although consultations on the 2027 ticket are still ongoing, sources say President Tinubu is expected to make a final decision on his running mate soon.

The report also noted that the political tension within APC circles has begun to ease, with ripple effects also felt in related party dynamics involving other political stakeholders.

In a statement released by his family, he was described as a “husband, son, brother, and friend,” suggesting that he had quietly built a family life away from public scrutiny before his death.

The revelation reportedly shocked many, especially colleagues in the entertainment industry, as he never publicly disclosed any marriage or child throughout his career.

Industry discussions suggest that the breakdown of his engagement, which once dominated entertainment headlines, exposed him to heavy public criticism and online attacks, making him a frequent subject of speculation.

Sources close to him claimed this experience influenced his decision to keep his personal life private, particularly relationships that could attract media attention or online interference.

Some colleagues also admitted they were unaware of his alleged marriage and fatherhood, noting that he kept such matters strictly within family circles.

It was also reported that the actor battled serious health challenges privately, including complications linked to a kidney transplant, but chose not to disclose them publicly to avoid attention or sympathy.

Insiders further suggested that his silence was driven by a desire to protect his family from online harassment, especially recurring social media criticism and rumours about his personal life.

Over time, he had become a frequent topic of online debates and speculation, which may have contributed to his decision to maintain a highly private lifestyle.

The family statement also described him as someone who faced his struggles with courage, faith, and resilience, while keeping his personal pain away from public view.
