“Tinubu Almost Sacked Me Over Desmond Elliott” – Gbajabiamila Drops Shocking Revelation.

Reports indicate that Gbajabiamila, a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, made the disclosure during a political gathering where he recounted behind-the-scenes events linked to the controversy.
He explained that President Tinubu had accused him of supporting Desmond Elliott, the lawmaker representing Surulere 1 Constituency, during the events that led to Obasa’s removal as Speaker. Although Obasa was initially impeached by some members of the Assembly, the decision was later overturned following presidential intervention.
Gbajabiamila said he had earlier advised Elliott to stay away from the alleged plot to remove the Speaker, but his warning was reportedly ignored.
He further disclosed that after receiving a call from the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), he again reached out to Elliott, urging him to publicly distance himself from the impeachment controversy. However, according to him, the lawmaker declined to issue any statement.
Recalling the incident, Gbajabiamila said President Tinubu summoned him to his Abuja residence during the crisis to clarify Elliott’s alleged involvement. He noted that while he confirmed knowing Elliott personally, he denied any role in the alleged plot.
He added that despite his explanations, intelligence reports continued to link Elliott to the crisis, prompting further scrutiny.
Gbajabiamila also revealed that the DSS later contacted him, alleging that his name had been mentioned in connection with the impeachment saga and suggesting he was backing Elliott. He, however, insisted that he had already advised Elliott to distance himself from any involvement.
According to him, efforts to get Elliott to publicly deny participation in the impeachment plot were unsuccessful, as the lawmaker reportedly refused to release any statement.

This follows a statement from Minister of Defence Christopher Musa, who revealed in an interview preview that the abductors had threatened to kill the captives if a rescue was attempted. The Minister explained that the bandits were using the hostages as leverage to secure the release of their commanders currently held by security forces.
