A Federal High Court sitting in Effurun, Delta State, has ordered social media commentator Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, to pay ₦30 million in damages to Mrs. Esinjemiyotan Uruneyonjuyei Atsepoyi, the wife of comedian Mr Jollof, over defamatory statements made against her online.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The court also directed him to publish a formal apology in two national newspapers and across all his social media platforms within 14 days.

Naija News reports that the dispute began in September 2024 during an online exchange between VeryDarkMan and Mr Jollof.

During the argument, VeryDarkMan allegedly accused Mr Jollof’s wife of engaging in adulterous relationships with politicians and internet fraudsters, popularly known as Yahoo boys, in an attempt to secure a political appointment for her husband in Delta State.

In response, Mr Jollof condemned the remarks and described the online critic as a product of a broken home, also questioning his upbringing.

Following the allegations, Mrs Atsepoyi filed a ₦500 million defamation lawsuit against VeryDarkMan.

In a judgment delivered on May 13, 2026, Justice R. Harriman ruled that the statements made by the defendant were defamatory and not backed by any evidence.

The judge held that the words were defamatory in their natural meaning and therefore actionable.

According to the court, the claimant was entitled to both general and aggravated damages due to the widespread circulation of the statements and their impact on her reputation.

Justice Harriman awarded ₦20 million as general damages and ₦10 million as aggravated damages, bringing the total to ₦30 million.

The court also ordered the defendant to publish a retraction and apology across two national newspapers and all his social media accounts within 14 days, covering the publications made on September 15, 16, and early September 19, 2024.

Additionally, the court restrained VeryDarkMan, his agents, and associates from making any further defamatory remarks against the claimant.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has admitted that his team’s Premier League title hopes are no longer in their hands, despite a dominant 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace on Wednesday night.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Goals from Antoine Semenyo, Omar Marmoush, and Savinho helped City close the gap to two points behind Arsenal with two games left in the season.

City will face Bournemouth and Aston Villa in their remaining fixtures, while Arsenal take on Burnley and Crystal Palace.

Reflecting on the title race, Guardiola said it now depends entirely on Arsenal’s results.

“If they win two games, nothing to do, nothing to talk. All we can be is in there just in case. The last two games are tough,” he said.

City’s attention will now briefly turn to Saturday’s FA Cup final against Chelsea.

Meanwhile, midfielder Phil Foden, who delivered a standout performance against Palace, believes the title race could still go down to the final day.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Foden, who provided assists for Semenyo and Marmoush, praised the team’s collective effort in securing the win before Savinho sealed the result after a strong run from Rayan Cherki boosted City’s goal difference.

“It’s a team game at the end of the day, if you want to win titles and trophies it’s about a full squad and everyone playing their part,” Foden said.

“The aim is to keep pushing and keep them on their toes. We’ve seen a lot of things can happen on the final day. I’ve experienced it many times when the game doesn’t go your way,” he added.

News reports that Alex Ekubo reportedly passed away on May 11, 2026, after complications arising from advanced metastatic kidney cancer.

Following the news of his death, some users flooded Blessing CEO’s Instagram page with insulting comments, with a few suggesting that she should have died instead of the actor.

In a video shared on her social media page, Blessing CEO condemned the remarks, describing them as cruel and insensitive, especially given the circumstances of the actor’s death.

She questioned what she described as public hypocrisy, where people show sympathy only after someone dies but often attack and bully them while they are alive.

“How do you people sympathize with the de@d but b#lly the living? Each time someone passes away and I see how people become suddenly sympathetic, I’m always surprised. If you read the comments people make when the person is alive, you’ll be shocked. Some people were even saying things like ‘God should take Blessing CEO and give us Alexx Ekubo.’ God will punish u all!

“And for those saying his family kept everything off social media, if his pictures had been posted while he was sick, the same people would still have mocked him and said all sorts of things,” she said.

The backlash against Blessing CEO is linked to a past controversy in March, when she falsely claimed she was battling stage 4 cancer and also made claims involving the medical records of a cancer survivor.

The incident sparked widespread criticism and calls for her arrest over what many described as a fabricated story.
